Why are Diamonds in every single one of my normal matches?
Why can't i play vs silvers? (my own elo)
They just roflstomp and tryhard on you then gloat and make you feel useless and nothing.
What is wrong with the matchmaking and why is this allowed?

Okay, for those of you saying "MMRs are different blah blah," that is a piss poor excuse. It's not a ranked mode, but it should still be even in terms of skill level.
As for the original question, its because Riot doesn't give a shit.
I too have the same problem. I'm silver 4 and this is my first season in the game and i get matched against gold, plat and diamond at normal matches. I can't try champions there, and i'm only playing ranked now because its more easy for me than normal.
Norms Matchmaking has been doing this cancerous BS for years :(.
rank is not mmr, and ranked and norms have seperate mmr. You see those diamonds in your norms because you and those diamonds have the same mmr.
It's absurd how they (and some not very smart people) try to justify this flawed system by:
"but Normals have a different MMR".
And? Am I supposed to believe that a Diamond player has the same skill of a level 50ish newbie? Please.

I keep getting masters, grandmasters and at rare times even challengers in my games. Dunno what Riot thinks, but for me it's not fun to have my shit kicked in by someone who's that much better than me at the game.

The entire point of normals is that anyone can play together, with no consequence. Iron 4 can Queue up with Challenger friends, etc. If you want an "Even" game, that's what ranked queues are for. Tying normals to your rank for "evenly skilled" matches would literally just make them a second ranked queue that doesn't effect your LP.
Because players that take ranked seriously usually only play normals when they don't want to tryhard, therefor their MMR is lower in normals compared to ranked.
I have my original account which level 200+ and i play vs plat and diamond all the time in normal games since i played a lot of normals last year. I made a new account 3 months ago and even though there are not as many plat and diamond ranked players in the normal games on that account there are still quite a bit. I thought since the account is only level 37 as of right now i could avoid them to play with my brother who has not played much league in the last year. My first game played with him after a year break on my main account we played a normal game vs a diamond 2 vlad player who hard carried the game for the enemy team which made him not want to play at all afterwards. On the level 37 account I saw a diamond 4 players in a normal games when I was level 33 which surprised me since there are hardly even any games on the account yet.
Either there are just much more plat and diamond players in general due to the new ranking structure which lowers the value of even being diamond, or many diamond players are dissatisfied with ranked and are bashing people in normals (sometimes they feed they arent god-like by any means).

Hi, Diamond here. Also would like to ask why when I que up I either go vs 3 silvers and 2 golds/plats or 4 grandmasters and 1 challenger.
The reason I stopped playing normals is after a game where my toplaner was Plat 2 vs a Grandmaster, we lost that game because of top diff

If you want to face other silvers, then play RANKED. Normal mmr is entirely separate, and needs to be.
normal mmr isn't the same as the one in ranked < has been said a thousand times.
That said, being matched with new players or scrubs is infuriating, but still acceptable to 20 minute queues for a "casual" game.
Normal and ranked have separate MMRs.

If you want to play versus your own elo, you play solo Q. Normal game matchmaking is based on how many normals you have played I'm pretty sure. I remember laning versus a challenger riven back when I was Gold, it was pretty fun tbh
I'm so tired of Diamond players in my normal games too. There's only been a few in my games that weren't unpleasant.
I get enough of them throwing on their "smurf" accounts in ranked for gold ELO.
I just had a game earlier with a diamond top lane Kayle against a Yasuo top. Our Yi, who was her duo, camped hard for her, and they still lost lane. They were trying to do that LS$ strat from last year. Meanwhile, we're all doing great around the map even while getting pressured by enemy jungler, and the Kayle is going off on our mid laner talking about silver this, I'm diamond that. It was so obnoxious.
All they did was make the game more frustrating by feeding a Yasuo so they could steal kills late game all while not shutting up about how they made it to diamond 5 after 600 games. They didn't even have the most damage. Pretty sure that's not how the funnel strat works. [sg-lulu]
Who the fuck plays normals anyways? Everyone plays ranked and when they're tilted they just switch to their smurf and play ranked again.
I’ve been having the same issue lately. Heck just last night I played against a d2 mid laner and a p1 one trick. I get these people are “playing with friends” but it’s kind of stupid. Whenever I queued with my diamond/plat friends, I’d play against people in their elo as oppose to mine (silver/gold). Really only been seeing this in normals this season. Before it was a rare occasion. Now it’s common.
They easily enough could make your ranked mmr splash onto your normal mmr to get the balance just a little bit better. I'm not saying it needs to be 100% but if people in diamond has their normal mmr increased by even 10% while say someone in silver had it decreased by 10% the true wouldn't ever intersect without premades.
I won against a team of 2 diamonds, a plat 2 and a silver. They got way too cocky vs us silvers/golds and me, low plat (basically gold). They made for a really fun game, if you like the challenge.
