Leona is outclassed in every way

She brings way to little to the table atm, her ult may has great range but it is a poor disengage and a unreliable engage.

Compared to Champs like Braum and Trundle she cannot be used in any situation as well as either of them. Her "Free" stats are worthless in comparison.

Take trundle for example, His pillar is very close to Leonas ult, except is has less delay and a knock up which is not effected by tenacity, a slow that is persistent also not effected by tenacity. Trundle has better lane sustain and better mana costs, he brings high dmg in comparison and one of the only champs in the game that can actively debuff other champions, and he has 2 of them! Trundle in the form of his W also can get out of a fight much faster.

Leonas E is the only thing she has that is a bit unique in a support. A gap closer that can dive the back line, but why in gods name would you ever do that? You are in no way a threat, an all your CC is very short duration with all having longer CD's ( Q aside at 40% CDR) She needs to be more focused on whatever it is Riot thinks she should be doing.

Are you saying you retreat as Leona? You must be playing her wrong since she's built to ALL IN.

As for her engage, unreliable? It's not hard to aim and that's all you need to do with it (E I mean). That and press Q.

Why why would you dive the backline with her E? Why not dive the frontline and maybe use her ult on the backline? Or just ignore the backline because you are a tank and they are beneath you. Those cowardly marksmen know nothing of true combat. Where you fight head on with your enemy, like a true fighter or tank. You let your own cowards deal with the enemy cowards, just make sure they won't be stopped.

Also Trundle's pillar can't stun.

I can't comment as a support since that's not what I play but leona scares the shit out of me when I play as an ADC. I'd much ratehr play against an ali, sona, soraka, taric or nami. Yes they can all sustain but I find myself a lot less likely to die from being just perma stunned while the opposing AD just does so much increased damage.

I see in a comment below that you're a support main, and I checked out your op.gg... Your average KDA on Janna is fairly decent, yet you have a lower win rate with her than with Leona. You also just won a game with Leona, which, I'd like to point out that in a 38 minute game you didn't buy a sweeper, but instead kept your yellow trinket the whole time? Odd. Sorry, and I have to point this out too, but you only placed 16 wards throughout the entire game :s 0.42 wards / minute.

Anyways, onto the point of Leona... While armor is very good on her, you built 0 magic resist against a velkoz. Though the build isn't horrible, it's strange. Leona is one of my favourite supports. She rocks 2v2 bot lane. She rocks level 2 power spike. She can take out wards w/o sweeper (though apparently you don't buy that anyways). I've easily turned around so many 2v2 fights where my ADC was about to die and I chain stunned the enemy ADC for so long that we win it and get 2 kills (earlier today for example). She's great at engaging, either R E Q or E Q R. Maxing her W first gives her HUGE bonus defensive stats allowing her to take a lot of damage in team fights, AND she actually does more DPS than a lot of other tank supports (trundle doesn't count, while he's used as support currently, he's not a traditional support).

Also, even though she isn't build for disengage, her disengage is amazing. I was running by myself away from 4 enemies earlier and one well time ult stunned / slowed all of them long enough for me to escape WITHOUT using flash.

I really have an issue with "support mains" complaining about certain champions being too weak when in reality they just don't know how to play them properly. Practice with her, learn new things, use better builds, and I bet you'll find out she's actually a great support.

Edit: Sorry I keep noticing more things, you had more gold that game than the entire enemy team except velkoz. You complained about support champs not having enough gold income, that's what item 3301 item 3302 item 3303 are for. With Leona, take Relic shield and last hit those minions. In a 38 minute game played properly, you should be near full build. A lot of the time in close games that aren't heavily favoured to one team, I reach full build before most of my teammates as support.

Learn instead of complaning. :)

Leona is pretty solid, but granted inferior to some other supports. She is really good for picks and completely awesome at taking someone out of a fight (Chain CC'd). She does not excel, however, in utility the same way other support do. She is a champion completely centered on making good decisions most of the time and you are punished harshly for making mistakes.

I think the biggest problem I have with Leona is that her death totals typically reflect if your team is behind or ahead. Leona often dies first if you are a losing and will have high deaths, but will have low deaths if your team is doing OK,

She also always needs health and resistances to survive being int he center of a fight. While Eclipse is a good ability she suffers from health issues throughout the game it seems.

Honestly... Leona at lvl 1 is probably the most terrifying thing to deal with in bot lane..

Leona's fine. I wish she had a little higher AP ratio but other than that she's great as is.
