Ranked is aggravating and leaves you feeling cheated

You can poke an prod D-Que vs Solo-Q all you want, but the bottom line is that less people are having fun playing this game now then they were last season. I have always seen the boards in rebellion vs something, be it a common enemy (Riven, Zed or Nerfrelia) never have I seen it vs the game in general. This game is at its turning point, its " Cataclysm " of the Moba world. Where people who really enjoyed the game are now turning to question themselves if they enjoy it at all, or if they're playing because it's now habit. Don't go down the WoW path, listen to your damn fan base!

You want to see a happy set of boards, go to the FFXIV forums.

Well riot has removed a lot of fun things from the game. Back at league's height I saw videos all the time of just plain goofy, fun stuff. Full AP Maokai. The Dunk Squad... or dunkmaster Yi in general. The full revive boogaloo. Funny tribunal cases. Xin Zhao being a man, and teams of 5 supports somehow winning the game. I saw off-meta vids every day back then. Now, not so much.

But things now are so stagnant. You can't bring out fun, goofy or niche picks. You can't make inane team comps and have a chance at winning. Heck, you can't even usually get away with off-meta champs for the role you're in. There are a handful of overloaded or overpowered champs that utterly DOMINATE the game. There are a few items that you ALWAYS build. The strategies and playstyles that win are pretty set in stone, and deviation is punished, both with an in-game loss and your teammates rage. Rigidly enforcing the meta has made the game VERY predictable, since there can really only be a few champs who are "best" for the roles. Enforcing certain playstyles does the same thing. People have figured out the most powerful ways to play and that is how EVERY game is played. It's... less fun. The casual players trying to just play what they want and have fun are pretty harshly punished for it, by their allies raging at them and their enemies curb-stomping them for playing anything less than optimal. In normals. Even in ARAM, there are people who have rigged ARAM accounts to only unlock potent ARAM champs. Not sure how common those are, but I wouldn't be shocked if you ran into one every other game or so.

And even the die-hard ranked fiends aren't enjoying the game like they should either. The people who WANT to play the best champs in the game and want to go super hard for wins are frustrated too. Why? Dynamic queue. Solo players, even when playing the "best" champions and strategies just can't influence the game as much as the premade who are all in voice chat. No, riot has narrowed the game's appeal down to only people playing entirely to win who have a premade of friends playing entirely to win as well. Do you not have 2 or 3 friends who play when you do and want to roll ranked and tryhard? The game isn't catering to you. Oh, you can play it... but all the advantages in the game fall to those guys and their friends and if you run into them you're gonna have a bad time. If they're on your team the game feels like it's in their hands with you a tag-along little brother watching them win or lose the game for you. If they're your enemy you're unfairly facing a group MUCH more coordinated than you, while you struggle to get your team to even respond to pings. Either way is frustrating and not fun at all, even for the diehard ranks grinder spamming the most OP meta champs he can. Even HE isn't enjoying the game.

Riot's choices lately have been pretty awful, and are pushing a lot of people away. I'm one of them. Sooner or later people will drop the game for something new... but right now it's a habit they have nothing to replace. The next big thing to come along with any mass appeal is going to see a mass exodus of disillusioned league players breaking that habit for something new and fun. It's only a matter of time.

It has nothing to do with DQ but the state of the Meta which isn't fun this season. They changed so many items and champs that the some are completely broken while others are to weak.

I agree...I enjoyed this game for almost 4 whole seasons but right now its incredibly unfun to me.

Death timers and paper turrets make the game decided by one death in the early game.

this game rank system is a joke specially there matchmaking bs..groups queing just roling over solo rank que players..this game aint fun no more...its bs....they match placement new players with people in promotion rank matches..lmfao..dont listen to riot they have no matchmaking its just one big random que..dont let there lies full u..this game is ajoke with rank solo que

Riot is definitely paralleling Blizzard lately. Despite having a PBE full of players telling them not to they go through with retarded changes like the xin zhao crit buff or constantly buffing ekko. They also pull this sophistry in response of the desire of solo queue stating they have a different "philosophical" position on individual skill despite the many arguments for solo queue that are FACTUAL. Ive seen this shit time and time again when people get too much money it goes to their head and degrades their profession.

I feel like ranked is fine right now. I got to plat this season with a silver border. And guess what? I played more than half of my ranked games solo. People not enjoying the game anymore is more on the person than Riot. This game is only getting better, and I hope that people start realizing that having fun just playing a fun game is more important than climbing. I just have fun and I climb, it doesn't matter how many people are premade on the other team. If I ever have a problem with the system, it's with the idiots that are on my team.

I went major casual.

Ranked is busted. W/L is negative, but i still win more LP per game than lose... 2 or 3 times more. End game as 14/2 Ahri to lose hard XD.

So no point in Ranked. Game not as fun, i log on to LoL still, but dont play it. Id rather play The Division, which is casual game for me. Dota2 i started up again, and feels like LoL, while in S5 i never logged on to play Dota2, i uninstalled it XD.

I picked up RTS, MMOs, and Smite, but got banned for no reason, still they unbanned me, gave me ingame currency as apology (but fuck em, not playing after false positive ban).

But even after i had a perfect excuse to play more LoL after the worst luck for a gamer, i didnt. I just found something new to play. Shoot, even picked up CoD and BF, and those devs/publishers ruined their games XD. Im still going to ditch CoD and BF as they suck now.

Idk ill just play indies platformers now with my luck XD

Warframe is the least cancerous forum I've ever been too. I'm trying to decide if I want to "Main" Warframe or Guild wars 2. There are to many turn offs to league right now to continue playing units current state.

For me, meta wasn't fun last season either and I still had over 400 ranked games and got diamond. Laning vs. a fucking maokai or renekton top every game as wukong wasn't fun but I played SOLO Q because I knew we all played on the ladder that showed us our individual skill. This season and since I read dynamic q is coming, I lost all motivation to play ranked and only have placements and few games not to decay.

IAMS4T4N5/2/2016, 9:54:36 PM6 votes

dynamic queue is so shit and makes teams uneven and unfair. they should remove that bullshit system

YouPoro5/2/2016, 7:19:03 PM5 votes

I'm just a casual now, barely play games, 20 min queue times aren't worth playing shit games in anyway.

Wukong 0ne Trick5/3/2016, 2:33:55 AM5 votes

Diamond 2 player here. I honestly can't see League staying in it's dominant position in the gaming world for too much longer.

  • Dynamic Queue has made long high elo queue times even longer. I have to wait over an hour to get a game sometimes.

  • Dynamic Queue has let really bad players climb the ladder because they are duo'd with better players.

  • Dynamic Queue has killed off any remnant of team communication that was left over in season 5.

  • The meta is so strict at the moment that any champion who is not meta gets instantly stomped. You HAVE to play a tank in the tank meta in order to thrive, ect.

  • Leagues population growth seems like it has finally stagnated. And with so many stressful games it can only go down from here.

much much more...

  1. company tries something new and creative
  2. big success
  3. they keep spewing out cash but still want more
  4. less effort and more content to attract more players
  5. no reaction due to bad content
  6. attract casual players by changing the content of the core of the game by making it easier / "flashier"
  7. hardcore players from the early plays starts to leave the game
  8. casual kids starts to leave due to no player base
  9. scrap the entire game
  10. repeat

examples: WoW, assassins creed, dead space, dragon age, diablo, battlefield, final fantasy, ninja gaiden

this stuff aint new really, somehow game companys still dosent get it. it's the smaller company who actually cares these days but the big ones are more about the money (probably why they are the big ones from the start, but they are just hurting themselves in the end.)

i stopped caring about LoL these days, it's more about feeding off my addiction by playing 1-3 games per day, lol.

press fill build sighstone watch everybody get credit log off

I remember that time and , yes, poeple where complaining about the game because one solo troll/afk was always costing them their games or adc were useless.

Imo, the rage against dq/actual meta is the same, poeple like to blame something else than them when thing don't go right for them. It's human nature and riot can't change that (like you can't change the fact that someone who is pleased with the actual state of the game will press the "play" button instead of the "create a discussion" button)

Ive been concerned with this as well. League is eerily becoming just like every other game Ive played where they make some ridiculous update that they THINK is best for the community, but nobody likes it. Runescape, WoW, so many others that have gone down this path. I hope Riot smartens up and listens to their fanbase, because if not, people wont stick around playing this frustrating game for long. Sick of fighting against 4 man premades as a solo queue player.

genya035/3/2016, 3:43:07 AM4 votes

Riot 1: Losing to promotion?! Here's something we added into Rank! We are giving you one-free-win in your promotion so that every time you lose, you already have a chance to win back!

Player 1: Oh, right. This makes it fair. Now I can get to Diamond without even trying and takes barely any skills.

Riot 1: Your welcome! We like to fuck up the game even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZT Xperimentor5/2/2016, 4:58:19 PM4 votes

Ever play against a team of assassins? Yeah it's worse once they get any items.

Season 4 IMO was the best, then season 5 was pretty good but had moments where I wanted to cry (juggernauts, cynderhulk, AD fizz...) But season 6 actually is turning me off the game.

Electric Buyers5/3/2016, 10:43:09 AM3 votes

I have mostly played in Bronze throughout my ranked seasons. When DQ first dropped, it was only an issue that affected higher ELOs, but as time passes, it is slowly trickling down the ladder because it is simply the best way to rank up. Solo q players favor Solo q because it tests THEIR PERSONAL ABILITY, not their ability to listen to a friend that already has all of the answers. I played 4 games in a row today (2 mid and 2 adc) As the mid I got camped by the jungler at lvl 2 and on. As the ADC i got 4 man dove at lvl 5. This his how I know that abusing DQ is trickling down, teams in this ELO are not that coordinated, they simply aren't. How do I know? Because in every high ELO game I watch, when a 4 man dive happens bot at lvl 5, the opposing team knows how to react, top lane TPs in, the jungler starts walking bot etc. In low ELO, when you get 4 man dove, you and your sup are simply fucked because nobody on your team knows how to handle it. At first, DQ was not very frustrating, but now that premades are more and more common, it makes me not want to touch ranked. OP is on point with this one, as is everyone with an out spoken opinion against DQ.

Edit: Also forgot to mention that in post game chat, the people I suspected that were a group admitted it when I asked them.

My problem with ranked isnt the way queue is set up its the fact that it freezes so much now compared to last year and once it crashes when youre in champ select you lose lp which is bs because its not our fault it freezes all the time and it isnt just mine trust me i thought it was. I feel really cheated in that sense and makes me never want to do ranked again. Another case in point is does rito even look when you report people for intentionally feeding when they very obviously were but a lose prevention never happens i feel like ever since the dynamic change they just could care less for ranked queues

Hard Penetrator5/2/2016, 10:28:16 PM3 votes

PPl are hammering this message for about 6-7 months I am not exactly sure why your post is different from others but generally yes, game is worse than it was year ago. Ironing bad changes took way too long and powerpicks can carry too hard. Also I can tell you for that FFXIV will probably also change for worse in next 5 years (if game will hold on that long).
