Million Dollar Idea

Put a ping test button (or Live Ping) in the launcher client window so we can see what our ping will be once the game starts.

Currently, I have to start a game before I know what my ping will be. Usually I have to do an ARAM first to make sure my ping is playable, and if it's not then the game will only waste 15-20 minutes. Often, I start a game and find out my ping is 110-300 and then I'm stuck playing a no-chance game, dragging my teammates down. I'm not the only one with unreliable internet. But if I knew what my ping would be before committing to a game, I could either wait it out (saving my team from a useless teammate, them yelling "feeder!" and "report!") or I could troubleshoot the ping before the game starts.

While it's nice that the loading screen shows pings, by that time you're already committed. Show us our ping from client window! Or give us a button to test our ping before we play.

Admittedly, this won't make you a million dollars. But it will help players who don't have permanent gigabit internet, which I'm assuming is a vast majority of your clientele.

You can actually open up command prompt and use the ping -t function to find the time it takes for your computer to connect to the server, and get continuous ping feedback.

Copypaste this into command prompt right after the little >

ping 104.160.131.3 -t

This should give you the ping it takes to connect to League's IP address.

This only applies to NA btw. Other servers use other IPs, and I don't know those IP addresses sorry

I open up a 1 v 0 custom SR game, look at my ping, then abandon the game.

meanwhile dota2 have that function years ago, but we know dota2 didn't have as much player as League of Legends Dota2 have hundreds of staffs but Riot has thousands of staff worldwide. Hmm I wonder where all the moneys go to.

Quite close to what you'll get in-game. edit: Usually works for me, but seems to be buggy atm, try it tomorrow?

Well tbh there is a Practice Tool Might get downvoted for this but some people are just that lazy

What I'm hearing is that you all have the same issue, with a wide variety of solutions that take work and time. That's why this solution I propose should be considered! It solves the problem without people having to jump through hoops.

I guess you can go into practice tool. It would be helpful though

You couldn't be any more right! I wish we had this option and I hope this happens. I reside in South Africa and play with an impossible ping at times and find myself using the most unreliable websites to test my ping. A in-client ping would be the best thing since sliced bread for me.

Please hear this man out and apply the relevant buttons to make our experience that much more enjoyable <3

Thank you!

110 to 200 isn't that bad but go above 200 and you can run into problems

This is already a feature in the Chinese server, I doubt they will bring it to other regions lul

If you have inconsistent ping all the time, go on a discord/ts3 server and look there. If it is in correlation to the game only, start a practice tool game and move around for some minutes.

damn, my usual ping is 100-105

My friend, my ping, on a good day, is 200. If I get lucky it goes down to 198. Even if I have ~300 ping I am not really dragging my team down, it is playable. On the other hand, if you get 200 ping in Dota 2 - you're done.
