Can I animate Lol characters?

I've seen a lot of fan art for league characters. But what is like to know is, can I create 3d models of lol characters and animate them myself for my own (unoffocial) stories? Is that permitted?

I'm pretty sure as long as you arent making money from it it's okay, but yeah that's definitely something to ask before doing.
