So my idea isn't specifically reworking or fixing urgot or giving him personal items.......What if we gave ranged champs the ability to perform melee auto at certain typical melee ranges. This might require damage reduction / being less effective for ranged champs performing melee auto with melee items probably with farming minions but probably wont have to do this in regards to enemy champs since most ranged users don't wanna be in the enemy's face, idk we'll see. I know it sounds stupid and I'll get alot of flack down below & wth does this have to do with Urgot, let me explain.
1-So first allow melee only items to be bought regardless of a character being ranged or melee. So now item effect may proc depending on the distance of enemy champ when auto'd. Wait theirs more, hold in your reeeee's, and I know steraks rage will be hard apply this concept to & other items I may not be thinking of.
2-Now this part will probably require alot of work or you could just cut corners (corner cutting in part 4). So ranged users will probably require new animations for a melee auto, example ashe hitting people with her bow, vayne kicking people, Zyra using a thorn whip.... mmmmmm
3-So when will this melee auto animation happen for the ranged auto champs? Well depending on the champ I would say between 110-125 (maybe) & the ranged auto animation/mechanic happen beyond that distance.
4-Since ranged champs can now preform a melee auto at close enough range, that is when the effect of an item may proc like a ravenous hydra that use to be melee only. So to cut corners, making melee animations for all ranged champs is alot of work, you could just use the current animations but still apply this concept.
Now how will this benefit Urgot? He's a champ that likes to be in your face, so having the ability to purchase melee only items will benefit his play style. Their is so much more to flesh out, like balancing item effects like ravenous hydra on an adc so they don't abuse a combo of RH/TH with static shiv for easy farming, or how sterak's rage will work. You could probably keep frozen mallet or duskblade the same if they are in range to perform the melee then hey maybe give them full advantage of 40% slow on FM or just the additional effect whatever it may be.
