Sion's new Q is disappointing

After seeing the reveal for the SIon rework, the new Q was nearly unanimously criticized by players on multiple forums. After finally playing the new SIon, my assumptions that his Q would be bad were assured. The windup is ridiculously long, especially in a fast paced team fight. While it does do pretty nice damage, that's only true if it is held out for at least 2 seconds. During that time Sion is completely rooted, takes regular amounts of damage, and can be hit with CC which completely negates the ability as a whole. And even if you manage to hold it out long enough to do significant damage and knockup/stun the enemy, they could just back away or simply step aside of the hit range. Since Sion can only strike directly in front of him and is rooted while winding up, any enemy that's not a beginner bot would never get caught by it. I suggest a shorter max windup (1 second), a rotating cursor that allows Sion to smash in any direction around him, or a complete scrap of the ability for something that isn't absolutely terrible.

You wind up the Q, the enemy uses a hard CC to interrupt you, since you're already rooted for using it that one would be pointless so it would have to be a stun or knock-up. They used it on you which takes the option away from them using it on a higher priority target. Option 2: They side step it, some go one way, but one unlucky person heads the other way and gets separated from the team, they are singled out and can be focused down easier. Even when they target you, it kills you and you get to come back to lay down some heavier damage while the rest of your team gets more hits in. Hopefully though, the enemy team isn't able to escape so easily, since you would wait until they have some crowd control on them, such as the stun from your ult or perhaps some allies with hard cc to keep them in place. Really, people just need to learn to use him still.
