Is it bad that the support manages to kill the enemy ADC?

I was playing Soraka on my other account and I managed to kill Vayne with my Q and then my ADC (Caitlyn) said this...

"Good job, now I won't be able to get my BF Sword".

Is it really that bad? It wasn't like she was trying to get it anyway. If anything I gave Caitlyn an advantage, since Vayne is now going to get behind on CS.

Giving your ADC as much of a gold lead on the enemy is ideal, but it's better for you to get a kill on the enemy than to have them live and run off.

If they gripe at you for getting a kill just say "whooops, well at least now you can get a CS advantage (:"

adc's are territorial about early leads/first bloods. An early BF will affect her lane phase, and if she's a good adc, it's all she needs to start a carry snowball.

But.......Most adc's aren't that good, and if they lose kills, it usually means a much stronger support, and if they're good at csing, they make it up anyways. Sometimes, Killing adc not dying, which is worth MUCH more than whatever gold, since Adc is usually always worth 300g.

I don't care if I steal on Nami, Sona, or Zyra. Me getting fed means I can heal faster, harder, and roam quicker and create that cc/heal wall way before the other team invests in Grievous Wounds. That wins games.

No, it's not that bad at all. If both you and your ADC were fighting the same target, it might be better to hold off on your own damage if the enemy's low and your ally is about to get the killing blow, but even then, it's not really the end of the world if you accidentally kill the champion instead. Moreover, it is better that you get the kill in your ADC's stead, than for your opponent to get away. If said ADC wasn't even trying to go for a kill, they have absolutely no right to claim ownership over it, and them criticizing you for not serving that kill to them on a silver platter is just them being a jerk. Even if they did participate, a 150g difference between a kill and assist can be made up by farming one extra wave, a task that becomes significantly easier when the enemy ADC is dead (plus the latter loses out on farm as well). Don't let one salty Caitlyn bring you down; what you did was the correct play.

As a bot main I really don't care if my supp takes kills or me as supp . I play supp 70% of the time and I really get hungry of gold at a certain point of the game, specially when my lane is not in advantage. Supps already are 2-3 level behind their teammates (that happens expecially when they go to ward/deward); if they take some kills or cs to help them to get the right items and help the team is ok for me

Anastaecia2/26/2018, 5:13:19 PM4 votes

Put everything you have into it. If the adc says anything other than "gj", mute em.

I have seen WAYYYYYY too many enemies get away because I held my last AA, assuming ANY adc (hell any player on any champ) could get the kill before they get away. Nope...lost kill. No more.

Tell them that you're going to build the BF sword and that they're going to build sightstone, because soraka is the banana carry goddess and you need as many kills as possible to feed the eternal hunger for more bananas. Drive to your local kroger, buy only banana related products. Refuse to have your things bagged or put in a cart unless they can somehow make either of them banana themed. Burn the heretics and sacrifice them to the great banana, then SACRIFICE YOUR ADC TO THE GREAT BANANA. ALL WILL KNEEL BEFORE THE BANANA!

Lmfao, that cait is an ungrateful punk. Even if you get the kill (which clearly is better than trying to let cait get it and having their adc escape) cait gets time to free farm and gets an exp advantage. Seems like that cait doesnt understand the concept of team play which means you can safely ignore their bitching and just play as best as you can.

Pika Fox2/26/2018, 4:37:58 PM3 votes

Its not bad. Ideally the kills go to the ADC, but if your ADC cant gain a gold and level advantage over the enemy ADC who died, your ADC is just garbage.

The5lacker2/27/2018, 4:36:33 AM2 votes

You didn't bow and scrape to appease the ADCs every want and desire? YOU FAILURE!

If a team is able to, giving kill credit over to carries is ideal as it gives more gold and that gold has significant impact on them while utility is effective even without that difference it. That said, ideal scenarios are not always possible so for those cases, one shouldn't be too concerned if someone is a bit bitter about it.

Is it really that bad? It wasn't like she was trying to get it anyway. If anything I gave Caitlyn an advantage, since Vayne is now going to get behind on CS.

We cannot see what happened in that game so we can't one up anything, it wouldn't be fair for us to comment on that.

Bârd2/27/2018, 2:04:06 AM2 votes

If you had stolen the kill, she'd be rightfully annoyed.

You didn't. Vayne wasn't going to die if you didn't kill her.

Cait is just being bronze.

Çhåryzård2/26/2018, 10:56:06 PM2 votes

That Caitlyn would've gotten her kill if she wasn't so bad at aiming her Q.

The Vayne literally handed it to you when she tumbled into your Q lmao.

xelaker2/27/2018, 3:43:19 AM1 votes

just buy your own bf sword and ask the adc who is gonna heal you

Śhunpo2/27/2018, 5:48:32 AM1 votes

No, it's not an issue. The only time it's an issue is when it's a mage sent bot lane. Those fucks need to get out of bot lane they don't belong there.

Once I broke into gold it seemed like most don't seem to mind, especially if you apologize. More often than not they will say something like "nice shot" especially when I thread the needle between minions for a Bard A stun into an ignite combo or something. The few that do complain tend to be playing ADCs with weak poke who weren't really contributing much beyond farming anyway (Tristana is especially bad about this, though I have a suspicion she's played a lot by folks who are filled to ADC and just want something to autoattack towers)

ZaionX2/27/2018, 8:11:10 AM1 votes

I'd say your in the green. As a supp you have to use the right judgement when deciding when to take a kill and when not to take a kill. For instance if its clear as day that your adc will get the kill and the enemy barely has a chance of being saved or escaping give the kill to the adc. If you believe there is a good chance that the enemy will escape somehow or your adc's life may be in danger if you don't take the kill than by all means take the kill.

In this situation I'd say you are heavily justified, the vayne is under turret, that's free game territory, there was a chance, and you took that chance because in the end no one can predict the future and it was necessary. For all we know your adc could've missed their skill shot and/or vayne could've backed out and recalled and than neither of you would get the kill gold.

All in all you're fine, your adc was just being unreasonable about it, and if you as a supp get the kill not too big of a deal (especially in this scenario) just try your best to remember "If it is most likely that the adc will get the kill because the enemy has barely any chance of avoiding death than give the kill to the adc". The reason why is because they are the "attack damage carry" you depend on them to kill enemies as much as your adc depends on you to set up the kills for them and keep them safe so that they can get the gold they need to become stronger.

As for personal opinion in my eyes a dead enemy is always a good thing. So if you go and accidentally kill an enemy just remember, "Well at least they're dead". On top of that you get gold that will make you more efficient as a supp and it puts enemies out of their lane so really you getting the kill can rarely end badly if that is even possible.

Just asking out of curiosity: why do you usually not auto attack for pokes even when in range to do so? im not saying you are bad or anything in fact u were at least 5 tiers above me last season so you are waayy better player than me but i just want to know what a plat+ player thinks.

Andrey03452/27/2018, 3:07:22 PM1 votes

She basically gets a free creep wave while enemy adc is dead and gets her BF Sword. And Soraka can buy something good too, it's not like gold was completely wasted.

robotmaster2/27/2018, 10:22:29 PM1 votes

Early game I think it’s better for Supports to kills mid early to mid is when it’s ideal for adc to get all the kills. Just adc start to get strong at that time and the faster supports can get there first item the better.

ggigotfed2/26/2018, 1:12:15 PM1 votes

Well the real problem is, why is someone playing vayne getting 1v1d by soraka. Just report him and move along.

Sp33d Zer02/26/2018, 6:13:11 PM1 votes

It's not wrong to take the kill. If the fight is close then tou should secure it so you dont have a death.

That said, adc is super item relient so any gold you can put on them is huge. If you can safely give you adc the kill you typically should; especially true if you are an enchanter who wants to protect the highest damage source on your team.

Just as an example I recently had a varus game where I had no kills until 20+ minutes despite 100% kill participation and highest damage due to people just last hitting the kills despite my damage being the majority (around 50%) of my teams total damage. Our kha and zoe were fed but not doing a good job of making it into actual damage. Of those kills had gone to me instead I could have been up around an extra 1.5-2.5k gold and had extra items for the fights. Instead all of that gold was on two carries who were getting caught causing their gold lead to be a nonfactor.

revliledpembroke2/26/2018, 11:17:34 PM1 votes

You could say that you were just trying to zone them, but Vayne Tumbled into your Q.

Also, "Now I can't get a BF sword." Bitch, wait 2 minutes and you can get it then.

YerroFever2/26/2018, 11:24:10 PM1 votes

You're doing your job at harassing the enemy ADC and you didn't expect Vayne to tumble into the center and take more damage.

Your ADC is ahead anyway by the sole fact that their enemy ADC is dead and losing out on XP and gold.

Don't feel bad that someone gets snarky because they didn't take advantage of how much harass you were doing. You can't sit there and wait forever for an ADC to take what you are handing them on a silver platter. If they don't take it, did they expect you to let their ADC heal back up over time and wait for you to harass them down again until the ADC felt comfortable to try and get a kill?

Based on your video, I don't think you did anything wrong.

Spacesuit Spiff2/26/2018, 11:45:00 PM1 votes

The difference between a kill and assist in a 2vX is only 150g. Its preferable to give that to the adc, but not if it means risking them escaping/one of you dying/burning a summoner/getting chunked so you have to back instead CS

Aimléss2/27/2018, 12:54:06 AM1 votes

It depends on how you do it, and what the situation is. If the enemy Vayne has no flash and no way of escaping, and is low and you're still AA'ing her and take the kill, I'd be annoyed, but if you kill her in the way you did in that video, I'd be happy because it means a CS advantage and a lot of damage on the tower and there was no way of knowing I'd have gotten that kill on her anyway.

Malix Farwin2/27/2018, 1:07:18 AM1 votes

She didnt try anything to secure the kill and having the enemy adc out of lane still puts her ahead. Sounds like the cait is just being a baby.

P.S.: You can tell the cait didn't do a thing because she didn't get an assist. If you were waiting on her to secure the kill Vayne would of backed already.

yuy9242/27/2018, 1:08:39 AM1 votes

Its not bad because the job of a supp (aside from supporting making sure your adc lives) is to harass as much a possible while not endangering your allies, if you get a kill out of that. Good job, now you can help your team mates better and can save some more lives.

SangreDeNoche2/27/2018, 2:14:39 AM1 votes

People like that just don't understand the game and will throw their rage at everyone else instead of bothering to learn. Yesterday, I had a Taliyah in one of my games tell me I 'pushed her wave and now she's fucked' when the wave had been slow pushing to the enemy tower. Neither was in lane so I shoved it under the enemy's to deny Zed cs and reset the wave. The reality of the matter is the wave is now back in the center where Taliyah can let it push back to her if she wants, but she adamantly refused to see that. As I told another person in this thread I've been accused of ksing after an adc has BACKED for bf. I get a kill while they're still in the fountain simply because an enemy carry got too close but somehow I'm expected to donate the kill to my poor gold starved marksman.

What Is Smite2/27/2018, 3:03:43 AM1 votes

In that clip cait was nowhere in position to get the kill in the first place, there was no point to their complaint. They were just being a bitchy ADC player

XvWrathfulvX2/27/2018, 3:36:06 AM1 votes

As a support main that mainly plays damage oriented picks like Lux and Vel'Koz I can safely say that you were not in the wrong. Would it have been ideal for Cait to have gotten the kill? Yes. However Cait wasn't in a position to get that kill and because of that she has no right to complain about not getting it.

When I play Lux support for example I don't really care if I take kills from my ADC on accident because at the end of the day me getting fed is just as bad as my ADC getting fed and a lot of the time me having that extra little bit of gold early helps me to get them snowballing even faster since I can buy items that give me CDR and mana which is what Lux needs in the early game.

Tl;Dr Cait was being Bronze and a typical ADC main. Ignore her and go about your buisness.
