I keep being matched with/against silvers and golds. I'm unranked.

I just got to level 30, and I'm suddenly matched with tons of ranked people. Is this normal? Does this mean that I'm as good as silver/gold players (which I highly doubt)?

Normals is separate from ranked. They may have been bronze skill level when they played most of their normal Games.

More importantly, average ranking level is silver 4. So it's not abnormal for a new level 30 to match against silvers and even the odd low mmr gold when first entering ranked. Even more likely in normals.

I started getting silver and gold players in my normals around the low level 20s, and had been matched with plats before hitting 30. Just a combination of who's looking for a normal game and some players having much lower normal mmr than their ranked mmr.

That makes sense. Although, I'm curious why I never meet any bronze players...

You probably do ;)

Only silver and higher players get a border to display their ranking. The only way to know someone is bronze is if they tell you or if you look them up. If you see someone without a border they are either unranked or bronze. You can view their profile to see their current rank, or look them up on external websites such as lolking to see their previous season rankings (only if they played rank those seasons).

At the very least, you're likely to learn much more quickly by being matched with and against players that are more experienced/skilled than you are.

I am pretty sure that your mmr for normal's is different than ranked. I am in B3 right now (too stressful for me to climb out). When I play normals I can say without a doubt that 90% of my games I play with platinum, and gold players. Yes there are occasional silver players, but barely any, and the last 10 normal games I have played I have not been matched up with another bronze or silver player.

When I queue ranked my teammates are all silver, and bronze, and it honestly deters me away from ranked.
