Used to think that Riot released champs really fast this year... then I looked back in time

So this year we've had Bard, Ekko, And Tahm. And it's been a new champ every other month just about. I thought it seemed fast until I looked at the champion release timeline and saw that both 2010 and 2011 had over 20 champs released.

some joke about how this was the baby boomer years some other joke about how riot is fixing champs that came out in the baby booming years

I remember Varus coming out immediately after Hecarim. They both have unique flavors, but felt very similar to other champions. Now they are releasing champions with more unique abilities and it is worth it imo. Quality > Quantity

They are working on a lot of older champions though. Ashe, MF, GP, Teemo(coming up I think), Fiora, Cassio/Sion/Soraka(changed way back), Jayce, Karma, Morde(didn't do him much good imo), Ryze, Veigar, Tristana, Ryze, and Zilean. While not all of them have been changed drastically, them getting changed in meaningful ways make it so they have a more defined niche and have a specific point instead of just being so good they can be picked into anything. Also while I don't know champion design, I feel it is slightly harder to change a current champion to make them still feel like the old one but function in a healthy enough way to work then it is to completely make a new champion which is easier to make if you are trying to fill a gap that no champion has yet.

Yea, seems like they're spending more time fleshing out some of the bang babies while having champ design team focus more creating unique and interesting champs.

The champ update and champ designs teams have been doing really well this year.

Ya, some were easier then others, they did do a lot this year. Also I'd like the older champions to get changed if they need it because a lot of newer champions that are released often replace older ones because they can do what X champion could, but better. MF used to be the premiere lane bully ADC, but then Draven came along and took that from her.
