I'm looking for a mid champ who can carry the game if all else fails. Someone who is consistently good in team fights and can also destroy someone solo.
I also only play solo que so that might also be some help.

Ahri will always be towards the top of the meta.
She has a consistently high win rate. While few other champions enjoy that patch after patch, Viktor included.
Logically you'd want Ahri out of the two choices, unfortunately you'll be compelled to down vote anything with the words "Ahri" and "balance" in the same paragraph. It's one of the side effects of being an Ahri main, or making gross jokes about her appearance.
If you really want to easily carry this patch though, I'd look at Lux or Zed. I'm unclear about their future, Lux especially seems to rightfully be receiving much criticism on her safety, but you can carry easily this patch as them. Zed is a bit harder to learn, but you can get a lot of done with the little Zed experience you have.
If the choice is between only those two, I'd pick Viktor every time. He has a lot more damage and CC than Ahri, if only slightly less mobility.
Ahri overall is stronger. Viktor deals a ton on dmg but is overall immobile. Ahri gives you the peace of mind with her ult and q movement speed. Ahri has a better 1v1 but viktors teamfight is to be feared.

Just go Zed or Fizz and you'll never end up falling behind.
Both pretty much do what you are asking. They both have good wave clear, damage output and utility. Both can be useful in teamfights, Viktor via AOE damage and stun, Ahri for pick potential. I would say Ahri is easier and safer and has the easier time engaging a 1v1.
