Is it possible to NOT get champion shards from chests when I already own all of the champions?

P.S. Last post got deleted because I posted this "in the wrong secton". That section was the help and support section. That seems to make more sense than posting this in the gameplay section (the one recommended to me) since Hextech Crafting is not actually gameplay. Could there be a section dedicated to Hextech Crafting? I got the feeling that there will be a lot of questions about it for a good while.

From what I've read, you can get shards for ANYTHING, regardless of whether or not you own the content. The reasoning behind this is that you can then disenchant them for essence.

Right. For me though, it is like opening a chest that has nothing in it. Unfortunately for myself and many others, we will never have a use for the blue essence unless they plan on adding something else later.

If I am going to get shards for things I already own, I just wish that I could disenchant them for orange essence rather than the blue essence.

Edit: Or disenchant them for something useful. I think you know what I mean lol

Yeah, after I posted that I realized disenchanting would probably give you blue essence which is for champions of which you have no use. At the least they could offer a blue to orange essence conversion.

I mean sadly it couldn't be a 1 for 1 ratio otherwise people who don't have all the champions would use it to get skins faster. That is, unless the option is ONLY available to people who have all the champions which I think is a better idea.

They already are adding mastery levels 6 and 7, only unlockable via champion shards. I thought it was supposed to be available at launch

Interesting. Thanks for the info. So I better not scrap my champion shards then.

Is there any further benefit to being level 6 or 7 champion mastery?

I don't think they have announced anything, so it's just a different emote to spam at people. They will probably eventually add something else.

I want them to do with champion mastery what Smite did. Add in a single chroma for the base skin with a specific stylization (diamond/gold) only available at the highest level of mastery. The chroma would require a purchase, but would have both an IP and RP cost.

I agree, this just happened to me with the champions, while yes their is a few champions I do not own, for the most part I own all the champions i care to own.

Those are the two earlier posts that I really like. Especially concerning the conversion system. This is a super good starter idea. I think Riot should look into this.
