Players in Ranked

There's an extremely large amount of players that play only ranked, but lack all the proper skills to actually succeed at the game. Whether it be basic game sense or even just the skill to side step a linear skill shot. The decision making to not use their mobility directly into their team, buy control wards, use their warding totem, or just actually listen to their team mates pings. There's so many players that don't actually even know what certain champions do even after they've been released for years already.

Now, of course I don't expect anybody in my games to be playing at challenger level, master, or even diamond. It's just the builds people employ are so cookie cutter, where they don't adjust to the game around them. So many people just constantly let their side lanes push in while playing what I call "mid lane monster mash" where the game turns into a perpetual Aram. It's ridiculous how many games are basically decided in the laning phase, not because that champions "OP" but you were just that much significantly worse than your opponent to die 5-7 times in lane.

There's honestly not enough game knowledge available from Riot's website or client in my opinion, and the tutorials are still utter garbage. Tutorials don't have to be JUST the introduction into the game, you can make a game experience that explains more advanced aspects to the game. There's definitely resources all around youtube/reddit/google, however the average player in ranked doesn't seem to be utilizing this. It seems like a vast majority of players treat ranked as the casual mode, when they should still be brushing up in normal.

I could honestly just be a complete whacko salt king. And this isn't all players either. But it's just so painfully evident when there's a player on your team that doesn't even belong in your cruddy Silver 3 division. Where their CS is awful, their map play is awful, their vision is awful, their gameplay is questionable. Now of course I make mistakes too, I get caught out or outplayed. But to the point where deaths amass in a way where the game is already over or you do the least amount of damage as one of the main carry roles? Something is wrong.

So, I really just wanna hear what other people have to say. This isn't even an "Elo Hell" rant. I don't think it exists. I think there's a lot of players I've found in Silver/Gold that are way better than their rank, but the ratio of them against goobers is frightening. So, either set me straight with some facts and open my eyes, or confirm with me I'm not crazy.

tl;dr - The level of skill for what's supposed to be the bottom of the barrel, feels like it's below even the bottom of that said barrel. It's the ground gangplank sets his barrels on, and then proceeds to walk on as he misclicks the barrel. If the game is going to keep getting more snowball and skill oriented, then not knowing basic game play/sense information will be that much more impactful. There's not enough knowledge available through riot themselves for players to improve since most will not go out of their way to look for it.

Okay, before I go past the first paragraph, what is your rank. This is important in deciding whether to take the rest of your post seriously or to move along on my merry ole way. No offense, but I'm saying this because it's the expectation of probably about 90% of bronze players to fall into the category you just described, and I'd go so far as to say even 40% of silver players should fall in this category.

I honestly only know that Alistar only runs into u to knock u up and heals stuff by a small amount, I go to the wiki before a lot of my games cause the only champions I know are the same 50 or so that are played all the time.

I've been experiencing a similar thing. I think if you check the stats of the guys doing the super dumb shit you will notice that most of them are either unranked(In placements) or have very few ranked matches. ((less than 30) and no last season records. New players in ranked tend to get dumped right into your MMR range. I know level 1-30 I learned basically nothing about the meta in serious play. I didn't know how to jungle properly or how to work with a jungler. Didn't know a ton of stuff. (I still don't know much but that is another issue :P). The game does an abysmal job of teaching new players how to actually play in a competitive environment.

Personally I think you are in the worst MMR for this issue. I've seen players that go 3-7 in their placements for their first ranked season ever and get placed in s3. I'm sorry if you can only win 30% of your placements you ain't a silver player. I had an amumu in one of my games recently that thought amumu is supposed to bring smite even as support. Looked at his match history. 11 ranked games 3 wins. 7 champs and most of those games he built at least one warmogs. Even as ADCs. Guess what rank he had? S3. Same as me. How the hell is that ok? It isn't even his fault that he got utterly destroyed he just wasn't ready even for silver level and the ranked system put him far higher than he should have been out of placements. Meanwhile I was S1 with a 60% winrate last season and went 5/5 in placements and got put in B3. Their system for new players makes no sense and it seriously fucks over mid silver players. I'll admit that I screw up plenty in my games and I certainly don't think that the "system" is keeping me down or anything like that. I get helped by this situation as much as I get hurt by it. (I'm guessing I've never actually went through my history to do the math) I'm only managing a 54% WR this season but it gets really old when I can tell that a sizable chunk of my games are decided by which team gets the clueless guy that hit level 30 and jumped straight into ranked with 0 game knowledge.

Disclaimer. Yes this isn't my main account. I'm not pretending to be a diamond or anything I'm a rather garbage 54% winrate S2. I just don't use my main account as it seems to lower the amount of "KEK YOU ARE A SILVER YOUR OPINION IS IRRELEVANT" from boards morons.
