Tank Ekko

I just don't understand how Trinity Force gives him all the damage he needs to stay relevant regardless of building the rest of his kit full tank. Is it just a combination of his passive, trinity force procs, and fervor? Like I'm just trying to understand why it works and what I can do to stop him. It feels like old tank fiora because of him being able to run circles around you. I feel completely helpless as he has two lives.

He is extremely easy to play around in the laning phase, but once he completes trinity and some other items what do I do. Is trinity itself overloaded? Is it an ekko problem? Is it a me problem? It just feels awful to beat an ekko in lane, get a good lead and then all of a sudden it doesn't matter if I can dodge his Q's and W's. It doesn't matter because he just autos me down and sticks with his passive/e dash.

Basically I just want to know if he is actually a problem, or if I just failed miserably. Any insight is appreciated.
