Honestly why does it matter what you are losing to?

You still lost. Does it really matter if you lose to a yi with devour or a lee sin with cinderhulk?

Why do you even care that you lost to x item?

I think the issue is more when the only country counter play to something becomes banning the champ. Particularly when the champ was balanced before and an item shifts their power drastically because then the champ gets needed and when the item changes some day the champ is suddenly weak.

Because feeling like you could do something but failed is much better than knowing there was nothing you could do once a champ finished a certain item.

It's better to be defeated by skill than it is to be defeated by a broken item. We can control our skill growth, but we cannot affect the game that Riot puts out for us to play.

How is this different than losing to say, a champ that you just lose to if the game goes long enough?

Like I understand what you're saying. Like yasuo it just feels once he gets shiv and maybe a little more you're instantly at threat of losing at any point.

But to me if I lose its just... losing.

Because the item was released by a company that said they were aware that it could be [stupid] with some combinations, LIKE Master Yi's double-hit and BotRK. This means that the combination of Sated Devourer with Master Yi is stupid. I imagine the Yi would also have a BotRK, which means that Sated Devourer is even more retarded.

Just my thoughts, but Sated Devourer is a retarded weapon, on the level of Feral Flare.
