Advice for people trying to climb..

Okay, first, I know the general accepted thoughts are, You deserve the rank your in, there is no elo hell, etc. I totally accept the fact that I am not a gold or plat ranked payer yet. So dont start with that crap please.

What I would like to get everyone's opinion on, is what to do when you stuff lane and everyone else just shits the pot? Please dont say carry harder, because you could drop a challenger into some of these games and they still cant carry. Even they admit that.. For example, Ive had a great win rate lately playing support now that I got serious and trying to improve, and climbed to B1 fairy fast. I get to B1, and I lose 5 and win 1.
I get 2 afks/rage quits in a row before 10 mins, then I get 2 games with mindless zombies. Zero thought process, just run in and bloodlust into 4 people. For instance, olaf and pantheon combo, feeding to all hell all game, me and my buddy adc, actually start to roam and carry and come back. These two guys just run into tahm kench JG/Full Tank every time, while vayne who is fed from top lane kennan, just shits on them like half an inch away. He gets condemed into wall, then cc'd again, THEN HE USES ULT, to continue to go for TK, Pantheon ULTS in after olaf dies, to try to kill TK and just gets melted too. This happened over and over the whole game.

You cannot teach these people, you cannot talk to them or they will just AFK, you can only "carry" so much with people like this.

Honest to god, I have the worst luck I feel sometimes. I am just sitting there totally boggled at how the people can do the same thing over and over and never learn anything, repeating the same mistakes..

So I ask you, what can be done in these situations? Are they hopeless? I am older and work full time, cant play a lot like I used to, so climbing for me is super slow when I have to deal with this crap. I am constantly watching videos, on reddit, asking higher people to look at my replays, trying to improve. Then they say things like, "Its just bronze, who cares.."

Part of me wishes that Riot would implement some other factors and statistical influence into the ranking system. Since you have to rely on others, if your 17/2, and you lose still, but get and S+, that should count for somehtign

you forgot that one game when someone says "gg" and 10 min

There will always be games that are out of your control that you'll lose. As long as you win more often than you lose though, you will climb.

just for your information, challenger smurf accounts have like 70-75% average winrate till diamond 4. Saying carry harder is the right thing to do. Even I dont lost ANY game from bronze 5 till silver 5 and I am not even that great at the game~

Hey im Diamond 5 and im having the same problem as you in my smurf games. (although ive been climbing its been slower/harder than normal).

To make sure you perform well and lead to victory is knowing

  1. how to play your role.
  2. how to play your champ.
  3. how to read your enemy.

now since you claim you are having problems with your teammates im gonna focus on criteria 2. how to your play champ.

now this actually has its own criteria for even picking the champ which i want to elaborate on.

  1. most importantly you should be playing a champ that you know how to play

  2. playing a champ that synergizes well with your team

  3. playing a champ that counters 2 or more enemy champs.

these are the steps i go into champ select that adds 33% chance of victory before the game even starts.

the rest as previously stated is knowing the role and reading the enemy.

Im a jungler so I have the option to read everyone one of my opponents same goes with top and mid in my opinion.

but we'll save reading the enemy for a different day. im sure if you follow that champ select process you will get out of B1

If ur 17-2 and losing then your doing something wrong. Big time.

So Ive been watching LoLSoc, and reddit summonerschool stuff. Learning a lot. I try to keep moral up when people rage, I try to make plays, but like 75% of the time, everyone just bloodlusts into first person they see, get instantly deleted.
Besides not giving up kills, what can you do in this situation? Where half your team chases and gets smashed, and your just constantly trying to defend split pushes. If the off chance we get that team fight, and I can exhaust the adc and dump, then ya, we can win. Last game for instance, down by 20 kills, I caught the fizz with root, frost queens, dumped on him and got a dream ult off. We got all three inhibs. Then when theyre all at 2 seconds left to spawn, they try to baron, im saying NO NO NO, they do it anyways, wipe, and gg. WTF can I do to help that? That saying, cant fix stupid, rings true here imo...

I think support is the hardest role to carry from in Bronze. That said, you do have a positive win rate so if you just keep playing you will climb.

There are going to be games where your team feeds/throws. There will be games where no matter how hard you carry your team will still lose. Where most people mess up is they get so wound up after those games that they go on tilt and lose an easy game the next game that they could have and should have won. Over a large enough sample size your team will feed in the same number of games that the enemy team feeds and all that will matter is your performance in the games that are close.

Put another way, there are 5 types of games: 20% of the time the enemy team feeds badly and your team stomps. It's very hard to lose these games. 20% of the time your team is ahead but if you play badly you can still throw the game. 20% of the time the game is even and your performance strongly influences the outcome of the game 20% of the time your team is behind but if you hard carry you can win 20% of the time your team feeds badly and it's near impossible to win.

So unless you play extremely bad or good you will win 40% of your games and lose 40% of your games. What really matters is how you play in that last 20% and ensuring you don't go on tilt after losing a game where the deck was stacked against you.

Every game is different so its hard to give you more specific advice. If you still really struggle check out some free coaches at lol-coaching.com (I'm on there and I'd be happy to review one of your games.)

I'd say about 66% of losses are caused by multiple lanes flopping. The other 34% is from some toss pot trying to force a fight when the rest of their team is in a power trough.

Don't be that idiot. Wait 5 more minutes for your team to finish that Rylai's or that Trinity Force or wait for that Manamune to upgrade and THEN force that fight.

Know what your problem is friend ? You think you're special. You're tilting hard because you're losing when you expect to win. I know EXACTLY how you feel. Before I made it to Silver a couple months ago, I used to feel like I'd never get out due to trolls, afks, feeders etc. Hell, you can find a number of posts on these very boards where I spilled those thoughts. But you know what would happen ? The tilt and anger would wear off after I took a break and I'd be back at it again. Same thing happened, I tilt, get mad, make butthurt posts. Tilt wears off, I'm back at it again. Eventually I just made it out. Just like that.

You need to realize, as I said, you're not special. This happens to everyone. It happened to me, it happened to everyone that has ever climbed from one tier to another. Before I made even dreamed of hitting Silver, I made it from Bronze 5 to Bronze 2 and fell back down to Bronze 5 0LP more than 10 fuckin times. You can even find posts of me complaining about that here on these boards. Do you even know how demoralizing that is ? Yet I still made it out of Bronze.

Dude, just continue doing what you're doing, learning, practicing, whatever and you will make it out. Look on the bright side, it took me over 1000 ranked games to make it to Silver. You've made it to B1 about 110 games. Stop tilting and realize that you will lose and lose a lot but if you keep trying, you WILL make it out. I GUARANTEE THAT.

Quick tip overall for climbing is learn from all your mistakes and look at the enemies items overtime. Play hard carry champions in silver-bronze that can carry hard, or the other option is climbing with a group or looking through replays of your actions to see if you could do anything better. For example an awesome thing to do is press tab to see what the enemy laners have against you, so you can play around their itemization. Another important tip is customize your runes around your playstyle. Same with masteries as it will help you climb faster overall with mastery a couple different play styles for each champion. For example I have a runepage full of armor quints+armor scaling seals+ Attack Speed marks+ MR scaling Glyphs for my hypercarry adcs as it helped improve their early game, or if I'm playing an early game champion I go for more flat ad/armor pentration marks with AS Quints+armor seals+Flat MR Glyphs. You want to rotate lanes after taking your lanes tower. Such as support going to mid lane then top lane to take towers. Then inbetween towers taking dragons, rift hearld or other objecties with your team by pinging such things. Another useful skill is being able to keep track of enemy jungler on the map as that allows you to know how aggressive or passive you can be.

where it becomes a problem on personal stats related to the ranking system is that you cant not play as a team you do well trying to solo carry leave your team out to dry and even if you lose cuz you did well you get higher rank... riot would feel that is taking away from the essence of the "team game" concept. not stating its right or wrong... just saying riot wants to rank people on a scale of how good an individual player are in a team game but dont rank you on personal stats just wins and loses.

I've been saying the same thing. In game performance should effect gains and loss of LP. You should not lose full LP when you get an S and are performing very well, trying to contribute to a win. While your ADC or top or mid is int'ing and feeding their ass off. In a 42 minute game, I'm Nasus top, went 8-0 in lane, Trin Force, ZzRot, tank build to help split push, doing EVERYTHING I can to help our team win the game. All the while my mid Cassi in 42 min game, dealt 3.7k dmg TOTAL????? No DCs, 79 farm, just literally... What? Why? What is this? How??? I do not deserve the full loss of LP that she obviously earned and deserved. just the same if I were able to turn that game around and win? She should not have deserved the full LP gain for a win, as clearly she did not earn or contribute to it.
