Gold V:MMR Hell (Need Advice)

SK Clyde - North America - Summoners - League of Legends

I started this season and was placed in Bronze II, with the lofty aspiration of reaching Diamond V. It took me 300+ games to get out of Bronze.

Since my team mates can't save themselves I decided to save them as Shen.

As soon as I hit Gold V I gained 97 LP, and I beat Platinum I-II ranked people in my lane. I was told not to worry by Dia-Plats saying I will eventually climb because I'm good.

I hit 0 LP again for what I believe to be the 18th time in the course of over 100 matches. Just today I had to endure more profanity from my team mate Ekko who's score was 2/11/2 . For reference my score was 2/1/11, and that one death came from trying to save him. This Ekko is a type of human being I've discovered through league called "feeders".

After 426k Mastery points, I wonder if I am playing the wrong champion. How can I save a feeder when it is their biological purpose in life?

I have created a collage of getting S grades and losing games in toxic teams. The ones I do more dmg than Kog'maw for example.

I am currently practicing Zac, Nocturne, and Shyvana as alternatives. I would appreciate any advice from players Platinum and above.

TLDR: I am maining Shen but my team mates won't stop feeding and costing me the game. As a result I'm thinking of a carry champion instead. I want advice from Platinum and above players.

The thing about top lane is it's the lane with the least impact in a game and therefore it's tough to effect the outcomes consistently enough. You've chosen a good champ to do it though, I say stick with it and find a good jungler for a duo partner. Have him control the map, you control your lane, and both of you can work on keeping your teammates from feeding. Two heads are better than one in this regard.

Thanks for responding guys, I just hit 0Lp for the 20th time. I warded blue in bot jungle and I pinged danger cause Amumu was coming. They had about 12 seconds to respond, which resulted in a double kill for the enemy (They just ignored all 5 danger pings).

I ended up doing more damage than the Ahri. My score was 4/5/10 as Shen.

Climbing with a supportive champion can really be a nightmare sometimes because you really have to forfill more than 2 roles and the coverup by the lack of damage. It seems to be a lot easyer to carry with a champion that actually deals damage for the following reasons:

  • You known your team isn't going to help you out and if they come to help you. Just expect the enemy is going to killtrade on them. Stalling the game and made it harder for you to get the win.
  • Warding is not something they known. And even if you ward enouge yourself, they will just feed even if they see them coming.
  • They don't farm, I have seen vaynes with 20 cs on 30 minutes. Got those games...

For toplane just get Darius and carry yourself out of this nightmare.

Alternatively you can go for a more splitpush oriënted build with item 3512 second or so. Since you are capable to getting in and out with tp and your ult. What you also can do is take summoner 14 and try tp get more lane controle and again go for a more splitpush oriënted strategy. Ask your jungler to give you rift herald. Than things really will tilt them. I'm also not sure how item 3091 works on him now. A lot of old shen's where using it to give him some type of damage. It worked nicely with item 3068.

1 loss after Sion ADC=Silver 1 for the 4th time. Team kept face checking bushes, getting aced. Or would split up and farm jungle when they are all MIA with a fed Nocturne. (No wards of course).

I told team to b, danger ping. Tripple kill. Face checking bush Aced. I told team to group up get objectives or die. We got mid turret, I went to go defend bot from a split pushing Veigar. Team 7 deaths within 2 minutes.

Just hit Silver 1 0 Lp. Had a LeeSin first time jungling. He would dive in to gank at 40% hp when the adc and I had 40% hp. Tripple Kill. Lucian Adc would dash in then die. 4/0 enemy adc before 10 minutes.

I started playing Shen support which seemed to work well a few games, but I'm starting to see Adc who don't know how to play the game. They will stand there and not farm, or do random all in dives to get a few cs then die.

I tried Darius in normals but lost all 5 games, so I guess I just suck at playing him. I couldn't sleep peacefully, and was getting nightmares about playing over and over at Gold V 0 Lp. Reality turned out to be even worse...

Woke up angry dreaming about my team feeding, had to get on. Had a 20 kill lead, asked to do baron 4 times. 0 Baron Kills. Team tossed. -23 LP again in a 5 game losing streak. I don't even understand how that's possible. Every game I play I need 2 wins to earn it back. That means playing 5 losing games cost me 15 games total. One more loss and I'm 0 Lp in Silver 2.

People tell me don't keep playing losing streaks, take a break. Doesn't make a difference, I just come back to another losing streak.

I may not be platinum, but I understand your struggle and have some advice that pertains to many aspects of League. I spent the better part of this season trying to get to platinum but decided that the frustration was not worth throwing any iota of fun out the window. I have a friend who really wants to make gold V for the Maokai skin so I will be starting back up soon.

These are things that my diamond/plat friends have told me to do in order to have the best chance of success to climb.

  1. DO NOT stress out about your rank or lack of progress. I'm sure you are familiar with the term tilting and one major cause of tilt is seeing a lack of progress and getting more and more frustrated.

  2. MUTE ALL OPPONENTS. There is no reason for you to talk to the opposing team when the only effect they can have on you is to cause you to tilt. They will never improve your performance.

  3. If a teammate is being overly negative or angry, MUTE THEM. You have a greater chance of succeeding if you focus on what you and the rest of your team are doing rather than worrying about someone complaining/feeding/trolling.

  4. DO NOT EXPECT TO WIN WAY MORE THAN YOU LOSE. Anything over 50% win rate is considered good, even if its just 50.5%. You will lose almost as many games as you win. This is progress.

  5. PLAY CARRIES IF YOU CAN. Carries have the highest chance of impacting a game. Mid, ADC, even some junglers. Your impact is almost directly correlated to your ability to perform on that champion. If a carry gets fed, the game gets easier to win. If a support or support jungle gets fed, not so much. My biggest problem is that I enjoy playing support and support junglers (which is antithesis to climbing succesfully). It makes climbing that much harder. Shyvana is my go-to for tryhard climbing as she has fairly high impact most of the time if you build her like a bruiser.

  6. HAVE FUN. Too often in competitive settings we forget that we play video games to have fun. Pros do not play League of Legends because they want the paycheck. They play because they are thoroughly transfixed to the game and really enjoy playing. You will play better if you are having fun. Mix things up a little. Even if a pick isn't meta, play something you enjoy and are good at. Don't let your team harass you for picks that are not common.

  7. STAY POSITIVE Lux . Don't get angry when you or someone else makes mistakes. You need to focus on yourself and only yourself when making good judgment calls. If you screw up, admit you screwed up and focus on how to avoid that in the future. Do not try and blame everything on your teammates. Sometimes they will make mistakes, but more often than not, you had at least some part in their folly.

  8. FOCUS ON IMPROVING. This is not something you do passively. You have to actively think about your strategies ahead of time. If you make a mistake, log it in your mind and remember not to do the same thing again. If you notice the opposing team using a particular tactic more than once, try and use that knowledge to your advantage. You might even be able to bait them into making a mistake.

  9. EARLY LEADS MEAN NOTHING LATE GAME. DO NOT SURRENDER IN RANKED. If you get behind, even significantly, try to draw out the game. The difference between a win and a loss late game can be something as innocuous as a support getting caught out of position trying to ward.

  10. VISION. This is not just the support's job. Everyone on the team should be purchasing pink wards, have warding trinkets, or oracle's lens. Make sure you are contributing to meaningful vision. Meaningful means that you place the wards in locations that the opponents frequently or expectantly travel to. This makes loads of difference late game and should not be understated.

I really hope this helps. Like I said, I may not be platinum or above but I have been taught over the years the way to climb the ladder. In my case my failure exists solely from not following this advice all of the time. Hopefully this will help you reach your goal.
