How I would rework Yasuo

Alright, I see a lot of people hate Yasuo, I'm not one of those guys, but I do understand he can be extremely frustrating. Honestly, I feel that the way his passive grants him double critical strike is stupid, but I feel his passive, Intent, should revolve around it, but it doesn't currently work in tandem with the other component of his passive, Resolve.

How I would change things up? I would follow Ashe's example, but move from damage to utility.

I would return the focus on keeping Yasuo as this crazy, ever-moving assassin who has to use active damage mitigation to avoid being crushed, as in dancing around, shielding with wind in one way or dashing through enemies. I would remove the double critical strike, and instead make it so that, a certain portion of his critical strike is converted instead to additional attack and movement speed, say... 40%?

So if he built Statikk Shiv, 20% Critical Strike? That becomes instead 12% critical strike, and 8% bonus attack and movement speed. But to benefit more from the bonus attack speed, he needs to build damage, rather than rely on critical strikes alone to do his damage for him. The movement speed feeds into his passive, allowing him to shield more regularly.

So to make things more intricate, here is what I would do for his other abilities.

The Q, Steel Tempest, stays as it is, it benefits from attack speed and thus feeds more into a more cohesive Yasuo, but again it requires damage rather than simply relying on easy crit alone to do his work for him. Maybe reduce the base damage if it becomes a problem.

The W, Wind Wall, should only last through a few normal ranged projectiles (say, three projectile abilities or auto-attacks), and be bypassed entirely by a super-powerful projectile (i.e. a ranged ultimate). In return, I would have the W's cooldown reduced to about 13/12/11/10/9 seconds, so that it could be used more than once in a teamfight, giving the ability a measure of vulnerability that it really needs, and raising Yasuo's skillcap.

The E, Sweeping Blade should no longer deal damage, but instead feed bonus momentum to allow for more defensive Yasuo play. Possibly even allow him to dash through allies as well, with the same limitations.

The R, Yasuo's ultimate. Take off the armor shred, Yasuo shouldn't be able to counter tanks who are supposed to themselves counter assassins, it's one of the biggest issues people have with him. Rather, make it so that Yasuo deals bonus physical damage to targets that he auto-attacks or uses Steel Tempest against that he used his ultimate against, which allows Yasuo to do more overall via outplay and rely less on being able to take on anyone.

Edit: For the record, I want Yasuo to be more focused on utility and less on damage, squishies are supposed to be bursted by assassins, but neither should he be doing ridiculous damage with minimal damage built, if he wants to be able to have that ridiculous burst, he needs to itemize more for it, and rely more on outplaying opponents in the early and mid game.

Yasuo only gets OP if he's fed. Right now, he's in a pretty good spot.

If you're having trouble with him, I would recommend Xerath. Yas can only block one ability (Xerath's E), and as long as he isn't super good at dodging, you will beat him pretty hard

You have a point, I've rarely gotten into games with that frustrating of a Yasuo, but I feel he could be more, but his power budget suffers from the critical strike gimmick he has, along with the armor shred on his ultimate.

I'd much more enjoy a Yasuo dashing so over the entire place that he basically says, "screw the mobility limit, face the wind motherf*ckers!"

Yasuo's Critical strike double passive, is kinda a main part of his identity , I'd be reluctant to remove it, although this rework would make him absurd so much attack speed and movespeed would make him ridiculous.

My rework is a suggestion, since I wanted to consider how else to shift Yasuo's power and make him more healthy and promote a higher skill cap. Yasuo currently is a very mobile assassin, the whole #LCSBigPlays thing that people joke is relevant in regards to him in that he is notably flashy.

Yes, Yasuo has burst, but people pay more attention to how much he maneuvers the battlefield like he owns it, and like the wind he is nigh uncatchable. I'd think a more healthy Yasuo is one who cuts into you when you are vulnerable, as he moves and darts around you and remains difficult to catch, again like the wind that he makes you face.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, and all that jazz.

I don't mind facing Yasuo because its fun to watch him dash around and it feels rewarding if you can beat him, because it feels epic facing him and taking him on, win or lose. I just feel he needs to lose a bit of what makes him frustrating to deal with, and promoting what everyone enjoys about him.

He has power spikes like every other champion. His first one which is normally shiv is about equivalent to TF on Irelia. The thing is Yasuo does build AD but he has a weird kit that he can go AS first just like Tryndamere. I dont know how most people build Yasuo though because I play him top but it usually looks like for my core damage which is 185 AD and about the same amount ADC's build lol.

I just think a lot of peoples issues with him are innately within his kit. His W is only limited by cooldown but effectively can block any projectile, including ultimates, which I feel is a tad unfair especially since Yasuo's innate mobility makes 'baiting' out the Wind Wall absurd.

Again, the armor shred on his ultimate is specifically meant to deal with tanks, and what are tanks supposed to be doing in the first place? Countering assassins through cc and being generally quite meaty. Locking down Yasuo is hard enough with skillshots due to his mobility and his W, giving him an anti-tank weapon is just one more reason why people have issues with him in the same way people have issues with Vayne, maybe not to the extent of Vayne, but not all the QQ about Yasuo is the result of low elo people who don't understand how to deal with Yasuo.

Again, between his ultimate and being able to build Last Whisper and Blade of the Ruined King, the concept of tankiness currently does not exist against Yasuo, the only way to stop him is to cc him so he can't do a damn thing.

He is a melee ADC. If people stopped treating and acting like he is a burst ADC like Zed/Talon/Rengar it would fix a lot of the problem. Yes he does "burst" squishes but a full build or fed Jinx does also lol. Yes if he is stronger then the enemy ADC then CC him and do what you can to kill him. I do think maybe his W could see some changes but really worst case make it only block basic abilities and AA instead of ults or whatever.

For the record I think he is the Utility Tryndamere. They have absurd auto attacks, build lots attack speed and crit. One is better in a team fight comp but the other is better at split pushing.

I agree with you there, I have nothing against melee ADC's who are supposed to be late-game monsters, I just feel that he should remain the ultility melee ADC of his group. I just think his W could use a little adjustment and that he shouldn't have the tank shred of his ultimate... it's a little silly in giving him that when he can already dance circles around them.

I dont agree on his ult sense it take a lot of effort to get it. And honestly most times I get it on him when I do play him it didn't really change the pace of the fight (I am fighting someone and ult after 3rd q) I didnt feel like OH DAMN THIS 50% increase makes it so easy! When I am still at 80% hp and they are at 30 lol.

I feel that he should have some damage boost to his ultimate, but I feel its the issue of armor shred, it sends a mixed message in League promoting tanks to counter assassins, and then having an assassin who can shred through tank's armor if a teammate knocks them up while he is nearby.

This is before itemizing against armor, by the way.

Yasuo with the right runes can already easily get full cdr and critical strike chance with just three items: Black Cleaver, Infinity Edge, and Statikk Shiv. Between those items and his passive and ultimate, and he doesn't need to build extra Critical Strike items for crit, Ionian Boots for CDR or Last Whisper for armor penetration, more item slots that could be put to anything Yasuo wants.

How can anyone win on Yasuo if they go CDR runes. You wouldn't have any MR and would get slaughtered by mid laners. Also why would anyone want CDR on him in the first place when his Q gets CDR by how much attack speed you have and everything else is short enough it doesnt matter.

Q = 4 seconds with up to 66% from attack speed W = 18 at max E = .01 static and 6 target R= 30 These are at level 18 but by 12-13 your cooldowns would be super low.

Once again I will just say the armor Pen doesn't seem to be game changing in the long run. Maybe on some close duels or whatever but honestly if you hit 3 Q's for the knockup, use ult, and still lose the fight you are behind. It would be no different then Ahri landing a EQW combo on someone and then they just kill her anyways

This is a mega nerf, not a rework.
