If this guy manages to survive the Harrowing, could we get him as our next champion?

Edit: He survived, and managed to avoid dying still after a VERY close call. As I said, he's a survivor. Vote Rafen for next champion, once Illaoi gets her spot.
I kinda like him not being a champion. Its mostly because I get tired of seeing important figures become champions, while it totally makes sense as to why important figures become champions.
I feel like the appeal to Rafen isn't so much in his character but the fact that he is just some guy, hes not a deity, legendary warrior, monarch, he is just a regular Bilgewater man who's had his fair share of experiences.
Would I be upset to see him a champion? No, like I said his character is amazing and I would love more Bilgewater champions. But seeing him become a champion would kinda lose the appeal that this guy isn't a badass but rather a normal person with wants and needs.

IF I was a gambling man, I'd bet you a skin that he'll die in the final chapter.
I wouldn't mind some in game references for him. He doesn't scream, "Champion." but he screams, "Needs to be in league."
Rafen gonna die.
He kinda fills the same role as Mr. Gibbs from the Pirates of the Caribbean films, to me at least. Just some salty cutthroat sailor who's MF's right hand and friend. He's a cool character to have and I hope he sticks around for a good while longer (even though he's got "fan-favorite emotional death" written all over him). I'm fine with him not being a champion, as I think his role as a average side-kick to MF works well for the character, but I also wouldn't be opposed if he was released as a champion.
Even if he don't survive, I really want to see Rafen as a champion.
He could fit into a the category of not-that-serious champions, not super epic but fun and silly looking, like old gangplank!
But I guess they made us like him to kill him :| since they can't kill champions :ccc fu rito kill thresh? :D
he is going to die its the classic thing to do.make us like a character and then kill them off to give the main character more motive vation.
I could totally see him as a not flashy support, a sustain/disengage specialist who won't get you kills, but make it hella hard for you to die.
Who's Rafen?
Rafen is immensely cool, but I kinda like him as MF's sidekick. Besides, we're getting Illaoi already, and she sounds like she's going to be pretty cool so far.
Honestly, I think he's gonna survive. He's got the mindset kinda like in Game of Thrones where "If we do this, we're gonna die, and I ain't doing this." He knows when enough is enough. I can see a surprise death where something unexpected comes crashing through and kills him. But I wouldn't expect him to willingly go up against the black mist and survive. Olaf on the other hand....
He's going to die. They're obviously making us invested in this subcharacter so that he can die. Who else can they kill for a climax? Also Olaf is going to appear out of nowhere and dues ex machina save the day.
I'm really hoping Rafen survives and MF and Rafen fall in love <3
