Hextech GLP has a 0% Purchase Rate
...on elophant and lolking item stat popularity charts. As in, the charts showing its most popular champs are NONEXISTENT.
I would like to consider this item over protobelt to make up for the loss of damage in protobelt's nerf. I don't really care at all about the catalyst passive, mana, or gold difference because the former 2 stats are irrelevant to me as a damage-focused champ (and if I cared I would buy a ROA instead), and the gold difference is made up since GLP has +20 ap, which is about 500 gold. Basically I only want to compare the actives.
After using GLP's active for the first time, along with going back and testing protobelt more, I noticed some intricacies that differentiate the two besides the obvious slow vs dash.
GLP : +50 damage(+10%ap) compared to a single protobelt rocket hit 0.5 second AND decaying slow (USELESS, weakest slow in THE game) Is a CONIC AOE (Hits ALL targets in its target area; good waveclear; trajectory makes it easy to hit all 5 champs if they are grouped or within minions) Has a 0.2 second CAST TIME Has LOW travel speed, and also fires projectiles one at a time sequentially from right-to-left, with the far left one taking about .3 seconds longer to land than the far right one.
Protobelt : Can do up to 40(+10%ap) MORE damage than GLP to a single target, granted all seven forward bolts land on same target (point blank) Is a SERIES OF SINGLE-TARGET SKILLSHOTS (rockets are "used up" after hitting first enemy; sub-par waveclear; trajectory makes it hard to hit more than 1 or 2 champs even if they are grouped, nearly impossible if within minions) Has 300 range dash Has NO cast time Has HIGH travel speed and all rockets fire IMMEDIATELY Cdr +10% (okay i said i would only compare actives but cdr is soooo good i couldn't not include this!)
So, in reality GLP active is MUCH clunkier than Protobelts', even excluding the dash and only looking at the damage portion; YET the conic aoe of GLP I feel is much more useful than the blockable skillshots of Protobelt, and honestly the point blank 7-bolt burst of the protobelt doesn't occur much when I use it against competent opponents.
So, why don't people like GLP? Is it the clunkyness I described above compared to the smoothness and utility(dash) of the protobelt? Is the potential point blank burst of protobelt still vastly superior to the conic AOE of GLP? Will GLP ever be buffed to make it be purchased ever? On anyone? WHY DOES NOONE BUY THIS ITEM???
