Revamped AP items

I was really looking forward to the new items and build paths, thinking it would be beneficial that the items seemed slightly stronger and the fact that change is fun. However, from my experience today, it has just slowed my normal item path down incredibly, and has really detracted from my enjoyment of the game.

I do appreciate the thought process that went into this, but I can't help but feel that you guys did the opposite of what you were intending to do. There was no real need to reduce the cost of item 1058 when really the only thing you should have done is have item 1052 build into it. The replacing of item 1026 with item 1058 on most AP items is not enjoyable, it's painful. Not to mention that the item 1052 in the item 3151 has been replaced with item 1026 has utterly gimped building it.

All of my items seem to take twice as long to build now, with HUGE gaps in-between, which was what I thought you guys were trying to avoid by the price reduction of item 1058, but unfortunately you just seriously slowed down most AP builds, have created huge gaps in item builds, and have taken away any sort of actual build that went along with creating the items. This is really just not a very well thought out patch, and the system here is more broken than what you were trying to fix.

TL;DR - Have item 1052 build into item 1058 and revert the build paths of the items you changed.

nah, it was necessary to not have 3 high AP items Dictate the meta. The whole point was to diversify your build options, So I would not completely Rely on the same options that you used before. It also bolsters other AP champs who relied on other items that were not strong picks.

What items are you buying exactly? The build ups are all easier, nothing over 1500 gold anymore.

An 850 gold cost is not gating. Like, at all.

Bumpeth for the truth.

They don't have item 1052 build into item 1058 for the same reason item 1036/item 1037 doesn't build into item 1038, offensive itemization is designed to be proactive. Tanks were given item 1028 building into item 1011 because defensive itemization is intended to be reactive, so that you can buy item 1028 and then build it into a defensive item that counters your opponents damage. For offense they want you to be making decisions based on what you think you're going to need. If you expect the enemy to build damage so you work towards a item 1058 to outdamage them, they don't want you being able to change your mind when you see them rushing defensive stats, which you would be able to do if instead of having a NLR you had a Amp tome + money to turn into item 3151.

Your example is bad, because BF sword isn't the main requirement for just about every AD item. Whereas the super expensive NLR now is, even with the price reduced to 1250, it has supplanted an item that cost 850 (Blasting Wand) in all item builds... that's a 400g gap in item builds now, which is pretty drastic.

Furthermore, where once you could buy Amp Tome, you need Blasting Wand, so there is a 400+ gold gap in most AP item builds now, which has both slowed them down, and give AP item users much longer gaps of powerlessness, which would easily have been cured by having Amp Tome build into NLR. Even with the current changes, having Amp Tome build into NLR just makes sense... it sucks having to sit on gold and be weak until late game when you should be able to gradually build in strength as the game progresses. It shouldn't just suddenly spike, it is not a well groomed process now.

No. I like the new system. I can finally build non Zhonya's and luden's items and actually experiment and use interesting builds. This is what I wanted.

item 3151 also got much stronger for having a worse build path. The strength of items are gated not just by the final cost, but how manageable the build path is.

I'd gladly trade the minor buffs, for the major impediment in the build paths for literally every item I use.

The issue I have is that I never had any piece before cost over 860, which was my most common build up piece. Now, that 860 cost has been replaced with a 1250 item, and the one item where the build up piece was 435, is now 850. I guess that is why they gave the illusion of buffs for singed this patch, because they really screwed him over pretty hard in the items/gold dept.

item 3116 item 3151 item 3003 are my main ones... talking an extra 400+ gold extra now per pre-upgrade item for each of them.

Instead of item 1052, I have to buy item 1026, and where I used to be able to get item 1026, I now require item 1058 twice...

It really adds up and has crippled my build speed, and has not really made the items that much more powerful for how weak it has made my mid/early game. A little extra AP here and there doesn't help much when all that AP is missing in the mid part of the game, and the game is always over now before I can reach a full build. Its not fun.

item 1052 building into item 1058 would resolve this issue, and would have been a simple fix for what they were trying to do, instead I got fake buffs and really just nerfed incredibly hard.

Where are you getting it from that Needlessly Large Rod has replaced Blasting Wand in a ton of items? It's literally just Rylai's and Archangel's Staff that have had NLR added to their builds. You can get a ton of major AP items without an NLR, just not the 100+ AP items.

Personally I loved trying the changes today. Needlessly Large Rod at 1250 massively reduces the pressure to stay in lane for unwisely long amounts of time and Blasting Wand is an extremely cheap item - if you can't afford that on a back ... well, it probably shouldn't happen very often.

Maybe Amp Tome turning into Blasting Wand in Liandry's can be annoying but again, it really does feel unusual to go back without enough for a Blasting Wand. But the changes aren't as significant as you're saying, most stuff that built out of Blasting Wand still does, same for Amp Tome. And adding Amp Tome to the recipes for Grail, Deathcap and Morello helps with the "I somehow have barely any gold after recalling" issue anyway, it's just on different items.

I disagree. I like the new build paths

I'm just pissed because I have reflex purchases that are now incorrect.

I'm brand support, I have my boots and sightstone and go back with 900g. I buy two amp tomes to build into liandry's.

OH WAIT, LIANDRY'S ONLY HAS 1 AMP TOME IN IT TOTAL.

Have to completely retrain myself and it detracts from my game.
