Simple Way to Fix Singed (His Passive)

Singed's passive should be changed to grant Tenacity based on Movement Speed.

I have a lot I would like to say on this, and can go into great detail on the subject, but I'll spare everyone. I also get that this will garner a lot of downvotes, because Singed. I'd be happy to answer any questions or comments people may have about this subject, as I have thought it through considerably.

Singed

Please understand, I know I am not good at league by any means (I am a Gold skilled player), I do however know the game intimately - I have played since Season 2, I watched every pro match of Season 3, and recorded statistics from those matches as research for a Game Design Textbook, but I'm just too old to be solid at competitive gaming; this however does not negatively effect my comprehension of their inner workings (those that can't do, teach/coach).

I have 1.3m Champion Mastery with Singed, I know the champion as well as almost anyone. I have also worked in the video game industry, have a degree in video game design, been a gamer for well over 30 years, and understand the inner workings when it comes to the creation and balance of these systems.

Singed is in a bad place right now, and if you disagree, you simply haven't played league this season, or are too jaded from seasons passed to recognize it. Most of the major Singed Streamers/Youtubers aren't playing, or are playing sparsely. Many have chimed in on the issue, but none have really offered a solution. I have one that will make it fun again.

If you want to hear a Challenger talk about the issue, there is an hour long video discussion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6H0wq_IU8UQ

...Singed has a passive!?

It's probably a good place to start if one wanted to get him off his current dependency of dark seals and more power can be injected into him. The passive is kinda dated.

But if he just ends up in the same place it's kinda wash..?

However some kinda interaction with movement speed could be tied to an effect that is more prominently useful later in the game than an extra 100 or 200 hp from a wanting of mana items that he doesn't really need more than 1 of.

Disclaimer: I'm just a silver and I've been out of the game for a while. My biggest problem with Singed right now and it's mentioned in that video is that he's not even fun to play and I've heard the same thing from better Singed mains. I think something's very broken when the tanky AP dude who gets extra health with mana decides RoA doesn't fit. Tenacity is also mentioned in the video saying it's not coming back because it's "his only weakness" COME ON. That's from a convo from a year ago, but probably better to look for a solution in a different direction because I think that's already been considered and discarded. A lot of top laners want a Tiamat and that makes proxying a bit of a pointless game but hey, I also understand that it can be healthy for the game if they have options against people who want to push. Another thing is that proxying could lead to making the jungler lose time and that could put your team at an advantage even if it got you behind because 1 in 3 times the junglers got you and if he ignored you, maybe you could take his camps. Except now because of catch up XP that doesn't really work. I also have a lot of issues with the jungle in general but that's for another thread. YSGYGGS is a korean singed main who used to be in challenger. He's fallen to diamond 1 and he seems to have just started playing other things. He sometimes did some cheese by killing 2 wolves and doing an all in at level 2, those were the extents to how much he had to game the game in order to have a shot.

So I'll try to bounce some ideas:

  • More mana options for items or change his passive. Personally I'm not a fan of the idea of buying dark seals at all. When I see a champion labelled as "farmer" I don't want to have to default to snowball items. But it's not like I can start mana crystal + pots against anyone not named Jax.
  • Give a random passive to one of his abilities. If 5 enemies are poisoned, you get a bit of spellvamp or extra move speed, or ignore unit collision, I don't know. Not needing movement runes would be nice.
  • The main problem seems to be his kit, because everyone dashes over walls or can kite him for ages. Rework time. Maybe E can be a miniultimate on a shorter cooldown and if pressed again in X seconds the fling effect can happen (would that be too similar to Volibear?). No idea what to do with R then. Those explosive coconuts in the jungle are something fun and it could fit the theme of the mad chemist on some kind of ammo system, but I fear there could be too much backlash to something that fundamentally changes him. If the rework route is decided, give him something that makes him scale with skill. Right now the ceiling seems to be if you can land an autoattack during fling and rooting with goo+fling (I understand the idea and it goes in a smart direction but often it isn't even the correct play and doesn't feel particularly satisfying IMO).

I give up on him for the time being and it pains me because I've played him on every position except ADC, but he just makes me feel irrelevant. Time to try to learn to play Twitch, I've become the kind of person that I always hated.
