Hi, im a pretty new player to league, and i reached lv 30 yesterday, but im still not sure what assasins are supposed to do in teamfights. I play talon, zed, and have started playing katarina, and i do well in laning phase, and i roam as well during mid game, but when it comes to late game, whenever a teamfight happens, i try to help, but i just get cced and deleted in a second. What should i be doing in teamfights? can someone help me?

As a general rule, in teamfights you want to kill the enemy ADC, first as they're the consistent source of damage, followed by the mid laner and other carries, kill the tank last. If the enemy has a fed carry regardless of role, kill them first as an assassin you want to deny their damage source.

Talon and Zed are for more single target burst, and have an easy time getting in and out of team fights. Use your combos on the enemy ADC, if they die wait a couple of seconds until your skills are up again and kill the mid laner.

For Katarina she more so requires her team to engage. Engaging as Katarina puts yourself at a risky spot to be blown upunlike Zed and Talon whom have better escape tools.

If you get exhausted, retreat out wait out the exhaust and try not to use any spells or most importantly your ultimate.

As an assassin the best optimal way to play a team fight is to look for flanks around where the squishy targets are not in good position with their tanks. Not only do you zone away their carries on you but you have the ability to blow one up if done correctly.

The role of assassins in team fights is to wait for an opportunity to assassinate one or more of the enemy team's carries. The best way to do this when a team fight starts is to hang back at a safe distance and try to get in some poke (if you have some poke spells), then dive in when the enemy team carries get low and try to pick them off. Sometimes, this means that you'll end up dying too (because you're a squishy champion). Playing assassins is all about picking the right time to engage and the right target to engage on.

I don't really play assassins but from my understanding is you try to get into the back line to get their squishys. like their adc and what not

Either flank and catch someone by surprise, and look for significant cooldowns to be blown (i.e. hard CC, really heavy burst, you don't wanna jump in and get Q+R'd by Veigar), or just wait by the sidelines until significant cooldowns have been blown, then go in on priority targets.

Jump on backline and kill priority targets. You can also flank, because walking through the frontline is usually suicide against a semi-competent team, and ideally you want to still have your mobility spells once you're on their carry in case they flash or dash away from you. Don't worry about going in immediately, you can afford to wait a few seconds to get in a better position.

In general, you have two principle roles.

first, when the team fight begins, your role is to use the distraction caused by other members of your team to reach the backline of the enemy team and either kill the AP (allowing your ADC to come up and DPS) or the ADC.

prior to the team fight, your role is to move around the location of the team fight and cause the enemy team to re position many times or chase you around as you pressure lanes. This creates moments of bad positioning that your initiator will use to start the team fight in your favor.

Another more difficult role, if you are good with trolling the other team and surviving (generally you need some tank in your build for this, and you do this with the trollier assassins like fizz and ekko) is to make the enemy team initiate on you but you are too slipperry and can't be caught. They then waste a bunch of time and effort trying to get you and in the mean time your initiator closes the trap on them.

For most assassins you never start a fight, honestly not even if you are confident, because you will get blown up wait for the fight to start you are never engage ever. Generally ppl will focus you cuz you will be going for the carry or mage when they start start attacking use ur escape, for zed ult or talon go invis, for the most part you team will be distracting the frontline like the jg or tank maybe the supp so mostly it will be you vs the shield or heal supp, if it doesnt work rotate top and help the frontline. Failed assassination attemps mean back up, if u cant get the adc just back up, for the most part you will have blown summoners or important cd from the support, its ok just wait it out. Most goals are assassinate adc or dmg or get important cd, then rotate to kill the frontline so you can push in after they die. With the current meta, and its hard to kill adc's with all the shields they get but if you get cd its ok you dont always have to be the hero that kills the hero help kill someone with everyone if you fail to because you are weaker without ur abilites.
