I cant seem to play champions with ranged auto attacks

So, for some reason, whenever i play a champ with a ranged auto attack, i seem to do terrible. I dont understand why i do extremely bad on ranged auto attack champs. I mean, i tried out leblanc and got solo killed by soraka, but i won a 1v3 as zed. I mean, even katarina, i do bad on her but i know that i just need to practice her for a bit, but when it comes to people like ryze or jhin, i fail miserably. Can anyone tell me what the difference between ranged and meelee champs are? Btw for some reason i do well with kayle, even tho shes ranged

lol also i lost lane to a garen with teemo but but lane with zed against malzahar

I think you might have an issue timing the delay of ranged autos. Most ranged champs shoot a projectile which has a delay from firing to hitting. Kayle's auto attacks are instantaneous (no projectiles = no delay) which might be why you do well with her.
