Irelia Nerf....

King Lego··8 votes·1,968 views

Nerf her movement speed by 5! Finish! Yay! Now she's not a problem anymore!

Is there an Irelia main in the balance team? No really, IS THERE? There is a reason why i take "Riot's silver balance team" as a FACT rather than a meme/joke. What's the point of this nerf?

Riot, let me be clear with you. You need to stop having pet favorite champions. Irelia is an overloaded and unbalanced champion that she's the very reason why i dropped from Silver 1 to Silver 3. Irelia mid is so fun when you're a mage main.

I'm not a balance expert, but COME ON! What kind of change is this? [zombie-brand-facepalm] Shame on you Riot. Shame on you. This is why i'm not playing much. Not because of "bad team mates, trollers, inters, and afks" but because of toxic champions like Irelia.

I don't know what "fix this broken game" means to you Riot. But here, let me try that in a different language. "salho el le3be el maksoora" Here you go. I hope Arabic will make you understand this.

Truly, 5 movespeed determines if a champion is overpowered

1- Sometimes it's not always your own fault. 2- I climbed to silver 1 in literally less than a week (i think 5 days tops, maybe less if i was hard grinding), and after reaching that elo, that's when Irelia mid spam showed up. (in other words, unusual playstyles). 3- Classic. Piss off man. Don't pretend Irelia is balanced, and don't pretend there are no champions that selecting them are auto-win.

You are right it isn't, but you can't blame a single champion for not raising up, that is the scrubiest of scrub talk.

So it shouldn't be your job to adapt to change, Riot should just make the game exactly how you want and only how you want?

I mean people were fine with her during that period from her last nerf where the current circlejerk was "Oh, well Irelia is shit now with these last set of nerfs." Wasn't until she started seeing pro play again that people started whining...like they always do.

Just because srub talk doesn't make it false anyway.

I don't want the game to go on my accord. Do you play mid? Do you main Vel'Koz? He's the best champion for me in mid lane and barely banned. Don't pretend there is no a problem with Irelia right now. She is busted to an extent that selecting her is like auto-win.

I don't care about pro plays. Irelia is overloaded. QQQQQQQQQ. She's one of the unhealthiest champions i know.

That is nice for you, but you have to realize that you can't pick Vel Koz into every champion and win unless you are massively better then your oppnent, every champion has champions they naturally do poorly too, Vel Koz loses to hard engagers like that, in turn, you gt to utterly neuter short range casters like Ryze who feel as if the game is just as unfair as you fighting Irelia.

You are doing the equivalent of playing a Fire pokemon refusing to play other types then complaining that Water pokemon are OP.

Unhealthy in what way, because people keep saying that without actually explaining it, Vel Koz was "unhealthy" when he was popular too.

I'm a Vel'Koz one trick for crying out loud. I want to earn my rank with my champion only. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

I was never okay with her, before it even became not okay with everyone when picked by pros. Seriously, when you want to make a point, you have the desperate need for pros to pick that specific to prove your own point? This is why i don't like pro plays much.

Yeah, Vel'Koz wasn't having much of a great time with balance back in season 4 or 5. Anyhow, "unhealthy in what way" Well, QQQQQ stomp Irelia, she buys trinity force and she stomps you back, can be tanky, has stun a disarm on her ulti, a shield breaker, a stun, attack speed, a heal, and a damage reduction ability that can't be interrupted.

Fine, go ahead but my analogy still stands either you need to get massively better at the champion to the point where you can even beat his hard counters or you need to understand that there are certain matches where you just lose because your champion got hard countered.

If pro play didn’t exist the same thing would happen because of high elo, doesn’t matter really.

Yeah, Vel'Koz wasn't having much of a great time with balance back in season 4 or 5.

Fine, and when glacial augment was at its peak with him, was that “unhealthy”?

Irelia isn't even meant to be played on mid lane. Just like how Vel'Koz is not meant to be played top lane.

Glacial Augment Vel'Koz is literally for those who can't use geometry on Vel'Koz's Q. I don't even like that rune build on him.

Clearly you need to learn your counter matchups better if that's the ONLY thing you're willing to do to climb.

Honestly, her dash goes right in front of you, save your knockup until she goes in, then disengage. As VK your only hope is to poke her down in lane and hope you get good jg support, and then transition into late where your scaling is good.

Also, irelia is a high skill-cap champion, it's why she sees a lot of pro play because when played correctly she can dominate. She only gets Q resets if you're marked, save flash for ult/avoid her stun. If she is buffering Q, she may dash in on you without a reset and you can outtrade her.

One tricking isn't how you get good at this game. You've chosen a naturally more difficult path, it's not other people's fault that you chose that path, and it's not Riot's fault for not balancing your counters so that they're not counters.

Also, you get a ban in ranked, if she's such a bad matchup, ban her and you won't have to worry.

Irelia isn't supposed to be played mid. She's basically a bruiser. Even when i made enemy Irelia go 0/5 or so, poke like hell, get ganks, she just buys trinity force, and starts split pushing all of a sudden. Laning phase wise, that's something. Game wise that's the problem.

MalrothDragonia1 votes

'supposed to'? Adaptation is part of the game, there are fine, healthy reasons Irelia is seeing play mid.

She's a skill matchup, but she CAN be abused by mages, if you watched any of the pro games of LeBlanc vs Irelia, she just gets DUMPSTERED. She builds the same mid as top, her counterplay options are intact, and if you play ANY immobile squishy into her, top as well, she will have windows to abuse you.

Trinity Force is her biggest power spike, it's why she builds it first. Being wary of that is part of just playing the game. She's not the only one.

Why complain about a champ being op when you can just LEARN why they're good and counter? Why one trick into losing matchups then complain?

If she was beating her counters consistently, or not showing sufficient counterplay that'd be one thing, but PROS missed her ult in clutch games, not every stun hits, she's only as good as the pilot.

So do i have to pick LeBlanc just to dumpster Irelia? I want to earn my rank with the champion i love and the champion i'm best at. Not earn my rank by abusing what's basically free LP champions.

Just because you learn how to play against a champion doesn't mean there won't be any problems about them anymore. Irelia is still overloaded.

When it comes to reworking a champion or designing a champion, does Riot's designers ever stop and think "okay i think that's enough"? CT is one designer who doesn't seem to do so, especially with Akali and Zoe. But whoever reworked Irelia is as clueless as CT anyway, when it comes to "okay stop that's enough".

I mean, there's more than LB to counter her (Urgot is also good into her), and I've already said that it is your right to one-trick, but it makes the game harder for you, and doesn't make a champ that is relatively balanced 'overloaded' because you pick into a counter-matchup and don't do well.

Regardless, Irelia needs a nerf, and this nerf is an insult. And Urgot isn't exactly a counter btw. I also play him top when i don't get my main role.

Buddy i don't give a flying shite about my own gameplay. 1- Irelia doesn't belong in mid lane. 2- Even in top lane there are issues and needs nerfs.

Is that so hard to understand or are you an Irelia or something?

MalrothDragonia1 votes

lol, I've answered both those points in a fairly specific fashion, and I don't really play Irelia.

I have been playing this game for about 8 years, and have seen metas come and go, and Irelia is nowhere near as egregious as you claim.

Most of your claims have been 'she's OP bc I can't play Vel'Koz into her' which is a dumb as hell claim.

When called out on these matters you don't get specific, you just reiterate your claims. Not an effective tactic. Have a nice day! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

i like how all u people are attacking the player rather than his point.. real mature guys...

the fact of the matter is Irelia is OP.. in fact she is the MOST broken champion in the game right now. and all riot did was to BARELY touch her base MS? which is damn near irrelevant because she has endless dashes.

its a joke.

if u cant see how broken Irelia is then there really isn't anything we can say to convince you.. because you clearly have no concept of balance.

and a 5 ms nerf is completely laughable on a champ that has endless dashes.

and u know it.

stop attacking the person.

And that's proving the point that she's not the sole reason.

Zed and Fizz don't have a hard CC. But Zed is my perma ban because of how these days he 100-0 you even when missing most of his combos. The problem with too much damage. Fizz i know how to deal with him. I'm use to him. Akali however, the thing is, when i make her go 0/10 she is utterly useless all game. Even with Zoe.

But make Irelia go 0/10 and it doesn't matter anyway. Trinity Force, 1 item, and finish. She starts the split push and go where ever she wants.

So yes. She is the sole reason.

Ravenhale2 votes

That 0/10 remarks sounds like she's just another Tryndamere.

Don't know why everyone thinks 0/10 means useless. It's items and levels that matter for most champions.

Yeah, well Irelia's powerspike basically begins with 1 item really. If she's supposed to fall off late game, and late game is almost impossible to reach these days, then that's a problem too.

Ravenhale1 votes

She only falls off if she no longer can one shot/full rotation the ADC or APC. Pretty much how every diver/assassin works.

Yet she's tanky, has anti shield damage, multiple target stun, a disarm and an ability that reduces damage. Yeah "diver/assassin" indeed.

Ravenhale1 votes

Vi has a shield, a point click ult, %HP shred and a gap closer with knock up. All single target, because it's pretty hard to miss (I often do, but I'm bad). If you make her too tanky, she won't have the stats to dive/assassinate. Should be the same case with Irelia, though her AoE ult gives her a better team fight initiation.

I prefer Vi. I'd miss too much stuff with Irelia, something I didn't have to worry about before the rework.

Yeah but Vi doesn't really one shot unless she builds lethality, and she's an anti-tank not anti squishee.

Ravenhale1 votes

Kind of depends on the level difference with Vi. Two levels ahead and a completed Tri-Force/Warrior, you probably can one shot most ADC targets. Tried her top a couple times to see if she can just run Tri-Force like Irelia but I think her base damages are too low to get away with it (everything on Vi scales with bonus AD).

Hmm... perhaps making Irelia's Q scale off bonus AD instead of her whole AD... naw, she'd probably be worthless and bumped to the jungle... just like Vi.

Oooooor Make Irelia's Q have limited stacks. Like maximum 5 stacks or something. With a 5-15 seconds wait for each stack to come back to 5.

Ravenhale1 votes

I doubt you'd notice much a difference with a max of 5 stacks. I doubt it would hurt her tiamat farming or her team fighting prowess. Does Irelia not buy tiamat first back? I thought she had to in order to even have some semblance of waveclear.

The 5 stack Q is just the start. I don't know what other nerf should be added, but right now the helicopter looking mobility needs a little tuning down as well on other champions because these days it seems like every rework and new champion are high mobility champions. The last thing i need is an unfairly gutted Irelia. I may hate her and other champions, but doesn't i'm not trying to be fair. I'm someone who hates meta with a great passion. But nerfed to an extent that she can't be played mid anymore is what i want right now. It just seems too unfair to play Irelia vs Assassins or Mages when she is tanky herself and can be strong early game while assassins and mages are not that much. Playing against Irelia as Urgot is often more challenging since it's a 50/50.

Ravenhale1 votes

Is Irelia the only Diver that has high enough base damages to get by with just Tri Force? Like I said, I know Vi needs at least a second item (usually Warrior). Diana is pretty much in the same boat as Vi (though worse as AP items for bruiser/divers is lacking). Elise doesn't even have damage on half of her abilities, let alone scalings, so she may as well be played tank (sure AP is good on her, but not good enough to prioritize). Hecarim... only one I can think of. Possibly Xin, since attack speed is pretty much all he needs.

Why is everyone in that list primarily a jungler? That wasn't planned.
