Force EVERY player to do an in client ping check before being allowed to queue

I'm getting real fucking sick of these people queuing up for ranked on 200 ping and ruining the game for everyone.

I'm honestly surprised i havent been demoted yet because this is 5 losses in a row at 0LP where some idiot has decided to play with shitty internet.

You need to either force everyone to do an in client ping check, or force everyone to queue for a training mode to look at their ping before queuing up for anything

WHOA dude calm your tits do you even imagine the kind of resources it would take to make a button in the client to check the ping? The numbers will be ASTRONOMICAL!!!1!!1! Riot can't afford it!!1!!1!11!

I constantly have a command prompt running in the background to check my ping.

Though I usually have to stay up late until I get something decent (because everyone's sleeping). If it jumps to 200 then in the middle of the match even I'm pissed, even if I win. Playing with a high ping just isn't ever fun.

Problem is that in-client ping display wouldn't tell you anything if they don't know what server you're gonna be playing on.

Have been telling this on board, usually Riot won't add this feature with the work team they have. They had over 6 years to add this simple feature which we did have a system long time ago that shows players ping but they took it out.

Im sorry but i play with 220+ ping and i do fine. Check my games on my main, Sutcliff15089391. This will just fuck me over.

Calm down. It likely isn't their fault. I know I've had times where my ping is completely fine one game, then I get constant 1000+ ping spikes the very next game for seemingly no reason at all.

That being said... I actually agree it would be nice to have a meter on the client itself to check our ping before getting into a game.

No, In-Client ping won't tell you anything about the ping you will have during a game. Client app communication and the actual game are hosted on different servers.

But, what I think would be rather helpful, is if we can see teammate's ping. Obviously not from the enemy players, since that would allow the team to always pick out the one player with the lag to get ahead.

But at least others on your own team would see when you have lag, and either no gank at this very moment (since you'll just be standing there not helping), or Bard-Ult you, or w/e. At least your team knows you're struggling and not bs-ing them with some lame ping excuse for poor plays.

I don't know about FORCE, but it would be nice if I was ALLOWED to test my ping before entering a game. I don't have any control or knowledge of when the basement tenants will be using the wifi, so I get a fairly high, completely unpredictable variance.

It will be very unriliable because some people can play on,like, 400 (like me,hell, were im living dosn't have a clear should-be-in so i play on 200) and some people cant play on any higher than 100

Vanic9982/20/2017, 9:40:33 AM1 votes

Or maybe ask riot to add something to the client that shows you your ping next to your summons icon.

Erockandroll2/20/2017, 5:23:30 PM1 votes

In my experience, it would not help, or would simply not be enough.

Too often do I load into game with perfect ping, only for it to spike part way through.

And chances are, Riot isn't going to invest the effort into such a tool if it would only fix the problem part of the time.

TheDelighted2/20/2017, 5:58:45 PM1 votes

It's not even that hard to do a ping test...

Thünder2/20/2017, 6:59:57 PM1 votes

If only there were an opportunity to implement a button to check ping into the client... like if they decided to redesign the client and release a new one... imagine if such an incredible opportunity came along....

ThatShaunGuy2/20/2017, 9:23:08 PM1 votes

They could make it cost 40 RP so that it's not overly abused and they can recoup some of the costs.

Incarceration2/20/2017, 9:31:04 PM1 votes

I just have the occasional internet spike to 2k ping. I still win.

Danjeng2/20/2017, 9:41:05 PM1 votes

I'm all for an in-client ping check. But there's also the scenario where ping increases during a match. It was pretty funny how my Zed started off with 50 ping, but began pinging his ping every few minutes. It rose to about 100 MS, then 170 MS, then 200 MS, then 440 MS, then over 1000! Was interesting how it just kept escalating throughout the game.
