PSA: Please test your ping before you queue

No one likes a laggy teammate and no one likes to play a game with lag spikes. Sometimes there's a hiccup with the net and that's totally fine if the frequency is once every fifteen, twenty minutes. However, there are times where your ISP decides to be an asshole and cause ping spikes every minute or so. While it doesn't affect normal browsing, video streaming, file sharing that much, the impact is huge on real time games which requires immediate action. Do yourself and your team a huge favour and check if your ISP is an asshole before the game starts. It takes less than a minute to run ten test.

Sometimes it catches you off-guard. I've had plenty of games where I'm cruising at top gear for 5 minutes and them I'm 3k+ ping for the rest of the game.

You could make it easier by putting in here a solution to that test. It's not as easy as you suggest. Thus proposing a good solution here will help others.

Your ping can be your ISP's fault. However, there's an entire world wide web out there between your ISP and Riot's gaming servers. All of which could affect your ping. Doing a simple internet speed test might not be a definitive litmus test. Then since your connection is a living thing, this might not even be a 100% solution anyway. I'm sure we've all had ping issues arise mid game at like the 25 minute mark.

Unless you NEVER have a ping problem.

For example, I don't have internet, so I play LoL with 4G on my smartphone. I never have any lag problems, although I do have some small reconnection, where I have to put the airplane mode on and get it out (10 seconds at the most).

I really wish the League servers were closer to where I live, before they moved the servers I could get 12 ping tops. Now I am stuck at a shitty 60 ping...
