Dear community, Diana is a Diver, not an assassin.

From meddler.

{quoted}

We feel she's more diver than assassin overall, though she's pretty close to the border between the two. Her shield, passive rewarding repeated auto attacking and need to stay in a fight once she goes in push her towards diver overall (assassins generally have avoidance instead of durability, patterns without ongoing AA dependence and ways out of a fight).

Having said that I could see Diana getting numbers adjustments at the least as part of an assassin or diver update.

It baffles me how people think Diana is an assassin. She is no more of an assassin than as a full lethality J4 or an AP malphite running electrocute. Just because a champion can 100-0 a squishy no clown in less that 1 second does not make them an assassin.

my favorite diver is Nautilus

She's a diver, yes.. But her only viable builds these days are Assassin glass cannon builds. She plays similar to an assassin without an escape.

Which is exactly why I feel some of her power should be shifted slightly to the defensive side of things, but what do I know. ;)

This is a failing of Riot's Class and Subclass system. Not in how it is composed, but in how it is presented. Ever since the new classes came out we've heard and seen nothing about them, so it's no wonder people have returned to judging champions on things that don't necessarily define their place in League.

Divers are specifically a type of Fighter with the mobility to jump and stay on a target until it is dead. They have a lot of "go in" without all the "escape for free" that Assassins are allowed to have. They have stuff like shields and good defensive itemization to make up for that, but it does help them stand apart from the Assassins that share some gameplay with them.

Because there is no AP diver itemisation. She doesn't build or play like a diver, she acts like an assassin and builds nothing but full AP and flat pen and bursts someone down in the space of a second.

At this point she's the AP equivalent of Rengar. A diver with an "assassin's" kit.

What's the difference? The way I see it is if they go in and burst you down 100-0 than they're an assassin. Nocturne is a diver who's also played like an assassin.

Dear post maker: A diver who can 100-0 you as quick as an assassin is either an assassin that's beefier than it should be or a diver who does too much damage.

Dear Revoke,

if she plays like an assassin, builds like an assassin, and pops you like an assassin, she's an assassin.

We don't say, "Tryndamere has too much success building AP, nerf Tryndamere as a whole." (okay, some very intelligent or well-meaning people do). We say, "Tryndamere has too much success building AP, nerf AP Tryndamere."

We recognize that there's a playstyle or build that is seen significantly more often than her intended playstyle and since Riot doesn't seem to be doing anything to fix it, we simply call her an assassin since it's more effective than saying "assassin Diana"

So stop going "ACKCHYUALLY". It's getting tiresome.

No, but when they have mobility on top of that it makes them an assassin lmao.

She may not be pure 100% assassin, but she def comes close with having a long range dash that can be used to instantly delete a squishy if she's fed.

Only thing that separates her is she's a bit tankier and less slippery.
