Is it possible to climb out of Silver is season 8?

Last season, I had a pretty decent shot at getting to Gold. If I had a couple more months, I'm 80% sure I would have made it. I spent a lot of time in mid Silver, even reaching Silver 2 at one point. Got on a bad streak, ended the season at Silver 4.

Season 8 rolls around. Started out in B2. Quickly climbed to Silver 5. All looks well. After a lot of time, I found myself unable to pass Silver 4. Last season this wasn't a problem. So I figured, I might be doing something wrong hence I started learning from better players through YouTube, blogs, streams, whatever. Just trying to absorb as much info as I can. Applied what I learned as best I can. But I keep running into this wall. Teams just feeding so out of control and games ending too quickly for me to make a difference. But I figured, maybe I'm still doing something wrong. I started trying even more drastic things. Different champions, different roles, different play styles. I tried everything under the sun. But instead of making some kind of progress, I fell back into Bronze for the 1st time in 2 fucking years.

I've reached the point where I'm ready to declare it impossible and just quit the game. I cannot enjoy a game where I feel as though winning is not really in my hands. But before I did that, I want to know if there is anybody and I mean anybody who has climbed from Silver to Gold this season. If many people have been able to do it this season, then it means I'm still doing something wrong. And if not, I'm going to give this game a rest and find something else to enjoy.

I want to stress, I'm not asking if it is possible. I'm asking if it's possible THIS SEASON. The game seems really different in Season 8. It's somehow harder, and it's really not as enjoyable as past seasons.

I want to also emphasize that I'm only concerned about Silver. I've watched a lot of unranked to Diamond videos but they always start at Gold. And their games are quite different to what I see in Silver. A lot of what these guys do does not work in Silver. The feeding in Silver is the worst of all elos as far as I could tell. Even Bronze doesn't feed quite as hard as Silver. I would really like to know if there is some way to win games in this elo this season.

New Players getting Dropped into S3 breaks it. Riot is fine with it and probably designed it that way because it makes most ppl stay in Silver always scrapping for the climb. Pull the Leaver, Pull the Leaver.

Silver is like swimming up a waterfall. Now that its Mid season you also have all the hard stuck Golds/Plats/Diamonds/Masters that are smurfing and dont care about matches so you will see Ali mid, Zoe Top type shit. Making Silver even more of a mess.

It's possible but unless you're Diamond V or above quality, you prob want to consistently play with a Duo. Gold-Plat players soloing in Silver are getting quagmired there unless they play 1 hyper reset champ exclusively (like Graves Diana Leblanc MasterYi Riven Tryndamere Warwick Zed Yasuo smurfs)

Its always amusing reading these threads with people complaining about being stuck in Silver because of feeders/trash teams. That doesn't magically stop after Silver.

Nope, since a single player cannot dictate the game anymore and the matchmaking being broken (as in it doesn't create balanced teams, it just balance the players based on an outdated MMR ranking system) it all boils down to luck

You are lucky and get the decent team, you can climb. You are unlucky, you're fucked

The guys u watch will not be stuck at silver. they start gold because they prob go 10/0 or 9/1 in placements. At the start of placements, they probably played against silver players.

that being said, state of the game is pretty garbage. i havent been playing as much. and im not playing ranked at all until things get fixed

the game not being as much fun as it should be is one thing, not playing because it is hard to climb is another.

I managed to do it twice this season with both accounts starting in Silver 3. The first I spammed Amumu and got up to Gold IV before falling back into Gold V. Overall record was about 38-14 and then on this account, I spammed Amumu and Rumble but it wasn't as hard because I had less games and a better winrate.

Well I mean 30% of the playerbase has made it out of Silver thus far.

Honestly though, it all comes down to luck, and quieting isn't going to solve anything. The more you play the better you will get. The better you get the easier it will be to climb.

I've actually been climbing easier this season. Especially after Kaisa was released. Be a good adc with really great positioning, warding, etc, and you are sure to climb up. Most importantly, know what objectives to go for and which to back away from. All 5 grouped at top/bot? Can your team comp contest? Yes? Go kill them. No? If behind or team comp can't contest, go take opposite objective or push other side hard. That's how I've been climbing. Teams just leave their objectives wide open. Especially when no one has Teleport. Also, go to base often and don't overstay after getting a kill or objective. Spend that gold. Good luck out there. Hope this helps.

Yeah it's possible. I had similar difficulty in season 8. But I also hadn't played since season six. And upon returning to league I found the meta had drastically changed and none of my old mains seemed viable. So I tried our new positions and new champs and what not. Till I found one that fit the meta like, was super fun to play, and even if my team fed their asses off I could maintain a decent kda and damage to objective every game. After loosing like 10-15 ranked games in a row And dropping to bronze I began to win again and made it into silver 3 and games feel as if they're getting easier instead of harder it's pretty cool. Cuz even when I lose I still have fun cuz I'm playing a stupid fun champ. Like graves jg, Vlad mid, Quinn top ( I have a 0% win rate with Quinn), Kai sa adc. Brand support. So if I can do it u can do it
