I never believed the matchmaker was rigged until now.

I've always believed that people claiming the matchmaker was rigged were crazy. But I'm starting to reconsider that position.

Just had another match where my team fed out of control very early in the game, a common occurrence in this season, moreso than previous seasons for some unknown reason. Due to how common stomps like this are this season, I consciously started looking at just how often they happen to try and understand it in terms of probability but I decided for this match to dig a little deeper. I looked up every player on my team and saw that every single one of them were on massive losing streaks. None of them had less than a 4 game lose streak except for myself. I looked up the enemy team and while none were on win streaks, they weren't on lose streaks either. A couple of them were on two game win streaks and a couple, 1 win 1 lose type thing.

This reminded me of something I read somewhere that the match maker tries to force you to a 50% win-rate. With all the data Riot collects, it's not difficult to assemble a team of tilted players to hand out losses.

I don't know what to make of this. I mean what are the odds of getting 4 players, all of them tilted as fuck from massive losses. I want to believe this was just random chance but I don't know. What do you think?

The match in question for those curious:- https://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2749643899/228591326?tab=overview

They don't "force" you to a 50% win rate. The algorithm tries to set up a game where each team has a roughly equal chance of winning.

The MMR for both teams were roughly the same. The streaks are irrelevant.

This is actually just the way their system works I think. IDK if you were on a long winning streak or not but the system notices if you are or not and says to itself "Hey, this dude it climbing a bit too fast in ranked... guess we should put him with the shitty or tilted players just so they stop climbing for now." It's how they prevent people from climbing so fast, they want it to be a very real challenge (as if it isn't already) rather than just a breeze.

Along with what TV f NeedHymn said above I also think the system works like this too, and I fucking hate it tbh. It actually just happened to me where both of my recent games had inters and trollers in it and we got smacked both games after I went on like a 5 game win streak. I hate the matchmaking, but it can only force you to deal with situations outside of your comfort zone, which will then only make you a better player, even if you dont see it right away
