Mid season mages, Brand and Vel'koz might be center stage but they don't have material.

I am very disappointed with the stated changes to Brand and Vel'Koz. The changes to these characters seem rather minor. The were supposed to be center stage with the other 4 but Vel'Koz only got an ultimate change similar to Anivia and Xerath and Brand received a change to his passive just like Veigar and Fiddlesticks.

If Riot wasn't able to find anything significant to change with Brand and Vel'Koz then why put them front and center? I got my hopes up for some fun Brand changes and I feel severely let down.

Brand's change is pretty major, man.. I don't see how you can think that is bad material. His late game and teamfight phase will be godly.

Brand now nets timer bombs every time people get hit 3 times by one of his abilities (including his passive)

My issue here isn't that the change isn't positive. It's that Brands overall change isn't as significant as Malz, Vlad or Cass. When they make a big deal of announcing changes to a champion I expect more then a simple passive change. We see changes to champions passives in normal patch notes. So in comparison this is a pretty minor change.
