Everything you need to know about Ekko, by an Ekko main

I tried to write this from a gameplay standpoint, giving the side of a Ekko main. I know many hate Ekko, but I ask you read the entire thing all the way through before you downvote or comment.

Info. On Me As An Ekko Main My first day of league was on the day of Ekko's release, on my EU West account. I put RP on it to buy Ekko, since my girl friend who begged me to play league, said I should try him, so I decided to start playing on his release.

Little did I know he would become my world, and he will consume the seconds of fun I have when playing league. I am mastery 7 on Ekko, and got it quickly when it was released. I do not play tank Ekko unless my teamcomp forces me to, since it changes the playstyle of Ekko. When I play Ekko I feel as if I am free and I go on a rampage everygame by outclassing my opponent in lane, It isn't rare for me to get pentas.

My highest score ever while playing Ekko was on my EU West account and I went 59/3/13 and got 2 pentas in one game. I carried the game and EVERYONE including my premade was feeding that game, I 1v5ed multiple times and it was the funnest I have had in league ever.

I am so devoted to Ekko that my favorite song is his login screen music, my backround on my computer. phone, and tablet are his splash, I am changing my first name to Ekko (Legally) and I own every Ekko skin on all 5 of my accounts. If you add my mastery points up from all 5 I have a total of 332,986 Mastery Points, and I have mastery 6 on 2 of the accounts and mastery 7 on another.

Ekko's Playstyle Most people don't understand this when trying to come up with ways to change Ekko, and it's that Ekko has a unique playstyle that needs to be kept if he is reworked. His playstyle is go in, do damage, reposition and deal more damage. You can't play like a (for a lack of a better word) bitch, you need confidence. He doesn't play like ANY other character (Trust me i've tried all of them) the closest is Twisted Fate or Yasuo, he is kind of a mixture of both.

If Ekko's playstyle is changed during a rework us Ekko mains will be forced to quit league because we have no where else to go, since no one is like Ekko.

Ekko's Ultimate This is where people think they can rework but they actually CAN NOT or it will ruin his playstyle.

I use my ult 20% Escaping, 30% Initiating, 40% Damage, 10% Heal.

As you can see Healing Isn't It's Most Usefull, nor is Escaping once you play Ekko you realize how important you rely on your ultimate for damage, and you can make plays with it, like Yasuo ultimate. You don't use it randomly, for no reason or your kill pressure is lowered a ton. A good Ekko ult can change the game, but you need to predict to use it correctly.

Challenges Playing As Ekko Prediction. You need to use it for EVERYTHING in a teamfight, you need to place your W directly, and you need to predict where your ult will be at.

Awareness. You know when you face an Ekko you need to watch for an ultimate and it's a pain in the ass? Well you get that but 10X worse while playing that. Not only do you need to pay attention to it's position so you aren't ulting into a 1v5 or into a turret zone you need to imagine it's explosion radius in a fight, WHILE fighting correctly. Also, do you think it's easy keeping track of your ult's position in the middle of a teamfight? NO

Positioning. You need to position yourself correctly in order to make use of his abilities, you need to be in range for your W, make it sure you don't get caught out and have to waste your Ult etc. Ekko's passive if what helps you here, but you need to proc it, which you need to be in melee range to do.

How To Face An Ekko Sums to take: Barrier and Flash, flash is obvious, but barrier isn't. You take barrier because as you proc Ekko's passive you get a lot of MS to dive, or run. This speed needs to be thought of what to do with ALMOST INSTANTLY, so if I begin to dive you and you barrier my damage, I am in big trouble.

Masteries: Stormraiders, Deathfire, or Thunderlords. Stormraiders will be used with people you NEED to kite him with, Viktor is an Example. You need to use it in order to be able to counter-act his passive movespeed, you just need to hope he doesn't take Stormraiders too.

Deathfire, use it to add poke and to lower the effectiveness of his ult, by dealing DOT after his ult ends.

Thunderlords, pick this if you are a character with EQUAL BURST (not more or less) to him, so you get that little edge, OR if he has stormraiders. You take T-lords into stormraiders so you have higher damage then him, you won't be able to outrun him if he has stormraiders (Unless your Viktor lategame)

Also, if he procs his passive and he runs away, try to hit him a few more times, he won't be able to trade back. And if you see his W's ghost hitting the stun down, walk to the upper left of the minion wave while farming, your more likely to NOT be hit by it, because people throw it to right more, since they are right handed.

Tank Ekko I am sure this is what you are all waiting for, and are ready to flame me for.

Tank Ekko is a problem if he gets ahead, but what isn't these days? He becomes this unkillable wall of HP and resistences that regens HP if you get close to killing him. Now sure this is a problem, but the truth is, it isn't THAT BAD anymore.

He is like a late game Amumu or Dr. Mundo with or a Zilean ultimate. Sure, it's a pain but it isn't that bad after the nerfs.

The Recent Nerfs The nerfs they put through were the best they could of done, it weakened Tank Ekko while making AP Ekko still relevent, it only hurt his early game a tad, which you can fix with flat AP Marks in your runes.

They hit the right area with the right changes, good job Riot.

If He NEEDS A Rework (He Really Doesn't) His Q and E need to stay the same, and his ultimate needs to be relatively the same and same with his passive.

The thing to change is his W, it just is the one thing they need to change if a rework is needed. It shouldn't be a field where you deal more damage or anything, it needs to be just something else. I can't really think of a way to change him for the better that doesn't affect his playstyle.

One last thing, can you think of the position I am in? How do you think it feels being flamed everygame for playing the champion you main, just because people think he's broken. How would you feel if you are called "no skilled" everygame just because you are playing your main? How would you feel if you get camped everygame because you played your main? How would you like it if your main is PELTED with nerfs and you just have to accept it. How would you feel if you made a board post about how much you like Ekko, thanking riot for making him and you are SPAMMED with hate and downvotes just because it's Ekko?
