Someone please stop tank ekko

I loved Ekko ever since he was released. He was the coolest guy I could ever play, going back in time, dodging shit like a badass, being a rebel assassin with cc. It was around the time I started getting good at the game. So I played the shit out of ap Ekko, and loved his assassin play style. The make or break of ap Ekko was when you went in, stunned, pressed shiny as, and mashed your r button as soon as you were done getting cc'd. Then I heard Ekko was being played in the meta, and even in the lcs. I was excited, ready to see big plays made by bjerg and faker with the assassin with cc that could provide so much for a team. Instead, I see top laners building him with no ap whatsoever. Where are the plays? Soaking up the damage and pressing r. I was disappointed. Ekko was always a champion unlike other assassins that had strong damage along with bonus cc for your team which would be hella strong with the the cc already provided by the top laner or support. He was special in his own way. Tank Ekko overtook the meta, and ap Ekko never recovered. First iceborn, and now trinity. Some nerfs to his damage, and people get along buying a rod like nothing happened and continue with full tank builds. I played tank Ekko, the way everyone was building him, and I realized the thrill I got from the intense moments of teamfights and ganks were gone. Tank Ekko was too safe. You could just walk onto the enemy and stun with your w. You didn't do much damage (anymore post nerf) but you still got to run circles around your enemies. Tank Ekko still hasn't been put into the grave yet, even after many nerfs, and it continues to be viable somehow. There are better picks that actually do damage compared to him top lane that do just as much as Ekko does with cc. I'm tired after constant changes to Ekko, worsening his early game as an assassin more and more. I'm forced to deal with these nerfs and have to constantly adapt. And I pull through. Ap Ekko does a hell of a lot of damage with the new ratios in the late game, so he is just as viable as tank Ekko, if not more. Sacrificing insane burst with bursts of cc for more sustain and less damage with constant cc seems like a good trade off, but it's actually almost totally even. There is no huge benefit from playing him as a tank like people think. Just because a Korean plays it this way or its played like that in the lcs doesn't mean it's the absolute best thing there is out there. There may be assassins who do a better job of assassinating than Ekko does, but his kit provides cc, something most assassins barely have. Don't even ask who else has a reset button for their mistakes. So Ekko really doesn't have the attributes of a pure assassin, but his ratios work well for it. And a skilled player can do well with it. I don't care if ap Ekko is never played in the lcs, if he's high tier in the meta, or anything like that. I just want tank Ekko to stop crushing my love for the thrill of playing Ekko as he was meant to be played. As a skirmisher, weirdo champion who does crazy damage and gets away with it because of his unique (NOT OVERLOADED) kit.

I didn't read this post. Tank ekko is a thing because league's itemization is completely screwed along with pretty much everything else in the game this season. The way riot has been addressing these off-builds is by hurting champions who then are forced to rely on the broken items/builds to survive, compounding the problem.
