I Never Understood...

I never understood all those posts talking about league's decline and people complaining about how the game isn't good anymore and how they are uninstalling, but today I finally understood.

I have played 1 game of league in the month of May, mot of my time went to the Overwatch beta, hype for 4 pm on May 23rd, work, and school. However in the free time I had I could have played League, and up until May 3rd it was my default game so playing would have been a normal thing for me. However of playing I found myself thinking about the game rather than playing it. I thought about my major disagreements with Riot's balance, and their refusal to communicate with the community on things that matter and their manipulative polls/surveys alongside the occasional post full of manipulative promises or just straight up lies. I thought about how much I enjoyed Blizzard's constant tweets and comic/animated short releases, I thought about how nice it was to enjoy a competitive game again.

Eventually I pushed it all aside to think about how to get my damn code to work, but I still thought about it at every mention of Overwatch's MOBA aspect/s. na.leagueoflegends.com is set to my home page on google chrome so I would see the news about League and read the patch notes or other posts every now and again. My decision was made today after seeing the Mastery level 6/7 post from Riot. After seeing the decision to FORCE players to use their broken hextech crafting system just to show their devotion to their character, I knew I couldn't keep playing this broken game controlled by a caring turned corrupt developer.

For the last few months now I have been paying attention to game design and how gaming companies communicate with their players and treat players. What I have noticed is that Riot's supposed commitment to being the most player focused game has long gone out the window.

As I am typing this I am uninstalling League of Legends from my computer. I am likely to reinstall in about a year or so just to see what the game has become. Outside of that I can't see myself getting bored/frustrated enough with other games to justify reinstalling.

Thanks you to Riot to and the community for the first amazing 3 years of entertainment I got out of League, my introduction into PC gaming, and most importantly giving me a medium to interact and keep in contact with distant friends and making new ones who have quickly become my most loyal and amazing friends I could ever ask for.

I am with you 100%, although my situation does not allow many other games, so here I will be in the shadows of 1st gen Riot awaiting their return.
