I recieved some feedback from enemy top laner, and they think the rune on him is a hidden treasure, I can say the lane harass and fact I basically have free Swift Boots in combat is quite enjoyable

edit: tried grasp, didn't like it, keyword that shook me was** 4% magic damage**,** Darius does AD**, meaning its never going to be effective on him, and since most melee heroes are AD, the rune is actually not the best imo

edit 2: Jax Players cant stand this, as it stops their escape with E when slow, u just walk beside them out of AOE, then follow up with E to grab them again, only problem if Jax goes tanky, than this build doesnt work well

I will cut you slack for being new [CITATION NEEDED].

If you picked Grasp of the Undying for the damage, let alone what kind of damage it deals, you are doing it wrong. Very very wrong. It's about being able to steal a bit of life from the enemy to let yourself last slightly longer, not killfasting. If you are good enough, you can build up the stack just in time to strafe the enemy and get back to a safe distance before he could touch you. It's a good rune for a Juggernaut like Darius, who already has natural sustain and is supposed to stay on his target as he goes to work on them. Whether or not it deals magic damage (based on your max HP, not AD or AP) is entirely moot. In fact, the fact that it deals magic damage means it's dealing MORE damage, since people are more likely to build armor than magic resist, especially in this current climate, and especially against Darius.

very insightful and valid point*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]*

some people take that on darius, but most of the time it's not worth it over the tenacity resolves gives. especially in teamfights

so grasp is superior?

so grasp is superior?

rather the tree itself than the keystone

why not just take the tenacity on precision then?

i didn't meen tenacity as of the league's stat. but the adjective. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tenacious

I suppose it would make him more of an assh*** during the laning phase since you're leaving sticking your axe in them, but these runes seem to take away some of his tankiness since he's not going resolve in anyway. If you get stuck in a match-up against someone who can poke you down, you'd likely be at their mercy.

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to give this a try.

My build that made me the arse top lane was this in order

item 3047 item 3075 item 3748 item 3065 item 3380 item 3083

against burst I swap Thormail for The Black cleaver as second item, then Thorn on 5th item

I really like Conquerer on him, the few times I played him.

With how it works, he basically permanently has that extra AD and true damage because of his passive. It also lets him get triumph, the tenacity thing (which helps in top lane) AND last stand. You could change last stand for coup de grace if you really like that. Then, you can go into resolve secondary for extra tankiness, with runes like Bone Plating and Second Wind to help him. Of you can choose different resolve runes to cater to your lane.

With these runes not only does he become a bully which thrives in extended trades, he also becomes greater at dealing/taking damage in general. He gains AD and HP from these runes (if you include keystone being almost always active), whereas with Glacial he only gets attack speed. Also as a toplaner it feels really nice to be able to have boots before 10 minutes, especially in certain matchups where that extra 25 movement speed is all it takes to survive a gank.

hmmm, what if I took conqueror and FrostMallet, basically gaining the effect of Glacial Augment

Rathar Dashing1 votes

That would work, too.

I'd argue that the whole point of taking Glacial Augment is to get some extra hits in since they're slow. So if you want to go that path you should probably just take Hail of Blades and go Resolve, but I could see Glacial Augment being fairly good on Darius too if you play it right.

However, the best rune on Darius is probably conqueror. But it's all preference in the end if you have a much better win rate with Glacial Augment then I say just do that.
