Tank learning.

I've decided that I want to get really good with tank in top lane. I've picked maokia and have malphite. Who else would you suggest I get? Also I need to question up to a secondary roll and I'm not great at jungle. Should I practice it out with tank or go support? If so what champions would you reccomend for those rolls? Also any tanking tip in general would be good to know..
