Thresh (Support Item) Discussion

I'd like to create a topic about Thresh regarding what support item you either prefer or think to be the best. With the possible upcoming change to Relic shield, we could use some insight to what other builds are out there as well as explanations behind those builds. I'll provide some example questions below to ask yourself if you're having trouble getting into the discussion.
- What type of Thresh player are you?
- Are you aggressive or passive in lane?
- Does your support item/build reflect your play-style?
- Do you have a hard time maximizing your support item? (ex: Working with your ADC to proc Relic Shield? Poking to proc Spellthief's Edge? Avoiding harass while getting Ancient Coins?)
- Do you prefer maximizing Q>E>W, E>Q>W, etc?
When I first started playing Thresh I would start Ancient Coin, Max W and go for 45% CDR. This would allow my ADC and I to engage with a Large Shield and win most fights. It was great sustain in lane but we lacked damage/CC since I didn't max E or Q. It had it's ups and downs, as do all Thresh builds. Just one of many ways you can play Thresh.
In light of this, the discussion can open some insight to typical meta builds for players as well as quirky builds for specific situations. I encourage everyone to comment about their experiences. The amount of possibilities are endless. I understand some will have differing opinions so keep an open mind about it! We can learn so much as a community.
