I was wondering, except the usual ap top laners:
+the guys that build quite tanky, but still do decent magic damage: 
Some ap top champions bring utility, good cc, or aoe damage, others good wave clear and so on...some have escapes, some are immobile, so there is no special condition for playing a mage on top from what I see.
So when people picks 
, 
, 
or even 
on mid, why dont we see champions like

, 
or 
on top lane?
Ozag the Mighty1 votesToo squishy comes to mind, a lvl 3-5 yasuo alone will dominate the lane against a mage. Wind wall (and if they're smart) a maw and the mage top lane goes splat.
Targon1 votesI've played top lane and she can do well but it's not a strong pick because it's generally harder to burst top laners down.
and have the same difficulties of bursting champs down but have bad mobility making them easier to gank with top lane being longer than bot lane.
