Do the majority of players use quick cast?

Chimp Joker··2 votes·11,626 views

For more than two years of playing LoL I hardly use quick cast. I only thought of this the moment I played the new Irelia and decided to use quick cast on her E. In fact the only champion who I would use quick cast on is Azir. But that’s about it.

This got me wondering: is it better to use this feature as a player or is everything else just fair game?

Of the champions I play, I use it on everything except

Rumble R Viktor E Sion Q Galio W

I think it is better to use quick cast if you know all the ranges of abilities. It speeds up your ability to quickly react. A fight will often times come down to a 0.2 second decision on who the victor is. The extra click you have to do without quick cast could cost you a fight assuming you can hit your abilities while using it.

I have all my abilities on quick cast but have normal casts binded to shit+spell so I see the ranges if I need them or am just bored and like move my mouse around and see a big bar following my mouse

I used quick cast with indicator once and never looked back. I cannot play the game without it now.

I tried that, but something about abilities casting on key release instead of the initial press really fucks me up. Normal quick cast works for me.

When quick cast was introduced I started using it immediately because I wanted to get used to it as fast as possible. Not having to confirm a spell with a second click saves a tiny but important amount of time which can make a difference when comboing or reacting. It takes time to learn and master and can lead to some weird missclicks but I thinks its overall better just because it makes you use spells faster.

I think it depends on the champ your playing/skill hit. An Ezreal might get away with it because everything's Linear. A champ whose entire kit orbits around skilling the right person for the greatest effect is generally ill advised to smart cast.

I never use it, and the champs I play are as follows:

Ahri Evelynn Ekko Karma Jinx Kaisa Irelia Leona Morgana Nami Nidalee MissFortune Lux Ornn Poppy Sion Sona Sivir Riven Taliyah Tristana Udyr Zoe Zyra

No quick cast on Taliyah’s W? O_O

Honestly haven't played her enough recently to see if it works better. I liked the pre-rework W. Aiming was better. Her new W UI made it rather less predictable to cast in the right direction etc. I could see the virtue. It'd just require some testing, and I don't like to change Options every game...

Reach out with your cursor, grab the earth with W, and then shove it by flicking your mouse.

That’s actually quick cast for everyone, glp is not.

Depends on the champion for me. I put shields, heals, point and click spells and generally everything that doesn't need to be aimed on quick cast. Everything else is with indicator.

I certainly do (Actually I use Quickcast with Indicators) but you may want to use normal cast when playing champions with a lot of skillshots. It really does help when you don't have to use extra clicks to aim abilities, especially when you are kiting for your life. Give it a try.

I use it on every champion, the only two skills i will turn indicators on for is Thresh E (because i haven't played him enough) and Bard tunnel.

Try aiming your mouse to where you want the tunnel to end instead of mid or where it starts. if it can path through to your cursor it will.

I actually use quick cast quite a bit. There are some champs that are harder than others to use it on. I still havent honestly gotten the hang of using viktors laser.

I’d really like it if Riot had champ specific casting profiles so I don’t forget to change them or more importantly change them back.

I use quickcast for everything except

Thresh flay Bard tunnel Rumble ult Victor laser

I used to manual cast everything but as soon as I switched to quickcast I immediately noticed an improvement in my games. It's worth noting though that I play every champ to some extent and know every champ's abilities and range since I have been playing for quite a while. If you use quickcast on a champion, it's usually helpful to know them inside and out first.

I don't know how people can play with normal cast to be completely honest. I used to do it when I was very new and didn't know quick cast was a thing and it felt like shit.

Dead flag blues1 votes

On some champs it's a must-have Cassiopeia Viktor Rumble Azir for instance. But I never use it, it's way too confusing for normal skillshots

Onotori1 votes

Nope. I use normal cast on everything.

I use quickcast for pretty much everything. No reason not to. It's faster.

I'd like to try quickcast if I could find it...

I turned on quickcast a few years back after playing old Ryze and seeing the difference between using it and not was ridiculous for spammers. Combo stuff in general.

I still haven't settled on a really comfortable way to get the normal indicator, so usually I'll click the skill for the indicator, or hover it for appropriate ones when I want a sight check, and memorize the range while on a long approach somewhere. Down a lane or something.

Does require you to know your ranges fairly well. Bard Q being 150 range shorter than Thresh Q added an odd extra learning curve because of that. I was awful with it for a few games. But it's still better to know them anyway.

I know a few years back it was pretty thoroughly pounded into people, turn on quickcast, don't play with locked camera.

Overall, it's much better except with Vector casting (as AlienPrimate mentioned in his post).

It improves your ability to react with your spells as well as combo them.

Mighty Mortein1 votes

As soon as I learned quick cast, I noticed that my reaction improved a fair amount. Sure, my accuracy with some skillshotstook a hit, but I just kept playing with quick cast. My friends were always trying to get me to learn it because I thought it'd be too hard, but it's not. Now, it feels weird when I play normal cast.

TwinkiePro1 votes

I've used quick cast for the greater part of the last 3 years. I've played every single champion. Things just feel quicker this way.

MsrTheJoker

I use only quick cast. With one exception which is Taliyah's W it gets completely screwed over by quick cast, all other abilities even for her I use quick cast. I'm guessing it's the same about Victor's E but i can't confirm.
