Why not do to Yasuo what you did to Azir ?

Angelofchaos16x··223 votes·7,291 views

So remember that Azir had 2 parts to his passive, but then a part was moved to his W ? So, if yasuo must keep his shield passive , why not send it to his W, so he has to choose either getting the sheild regenerated quickly by scaling W, while losing damage, or to get the damage that he wants, but losses out on the shield regen. Thoughts ?

Its honestly pretty weird, I often have those moments where I have nothing to do, think about something, and then kind of a chain starts and I get to a topic which has absolutely nothing to do with the original one, and then I spend as much time afterwards trying to remember what I initially thought about...

Yasou isn't dominating the competitive scene ATM like Azir still is.

At this point, Yasou is just a champion that looks/feels/smells/tastes/sounds OP but is objectively pretty balanced. Same generally goes for counterplay and his overall design. Subjectively he seems bad - but objectively his mobility isn't in the same spot as Trynd/Riven/Shaco/Fiora, his steroids don't encourage back-dooring 24/7, he's not dead weight when behind, his steroids are both surprisingly pretty weak compared to a wide range of other steroids when actual math is involved, he is actually fun to play with via knockup combos, etc.

Don't get me wrong - lanning against a Yasou as some of my favorite champions like Lux is often a massive pain, but I don't feel that's solid grounds for Yasou being unplayable. Having solid light fighter/assassin picks in the game makes it stronger as a whole.

And ATM: Yasou is right in pretty solid zone for balance looking at his play in worlds. He's not a 100% pick/ban option, he's just a ~3 games in 20 kind of pick with an ok showing.

competitive scene is like less than a 0.1% of all LOL community. If you balance game around that ,that would be fucked up.

And bronze/silver/gold makes up 90% of the community. Why nerf champs according to what low elos haven't learned to play against yet? That would also be fucked up.

It's not Riot's fault people suck

Narasimha5 votes

Which is exactly why Riot doesn't balance around them. I mean, why would you EVER balance something around it's lowest potential?

Handin Out Naps1 votes

Zed was nerfed due to low elo outcries. He was litterally nothing in the tank meta, not picked not banned. But they still gave his full of counterplay ult more counterplay, just to shut low elos up. And Yasuo may be next.

Father Cthulhu10 votes

Zed was nerfed because every mage around him was nerfed, and he stood as one of the most obnoxious lane bullies that went mid. Not cause of some low elo crybabies.

They do balance champions for competitive and low elo actually. Veigar was initially nerfed almost entirely because of one pro player, Gorilla, who played Veigar support in the LCK and it was so OP that it was permabanned in competitive. A fact very little people know about since people still complain that Riot nerfed Veigar for seemingly no reason.

Also remember the random Sona nerfs a while back? That was for low elo since literally no one above platinum/diamond ever touched Sona since she sucked.

Wrong, games should be balanced with the assumptions that everyone is played to the optimal standard. It's simply silly to assume that the game should be made unfair because some people aren't good at the game.

That way, the only reason why you suck is because you suck, and not because the game is also unfair by nature. Balance is meant to make things fair, and not to tip it.

The latest Lee buff was completely BS for this very reason.

Riot claims to balance around plat+, so not only worlds, but not bronze/silver/gold either (unless stuff gets out of hand like old tryn)

But Lee was the opposite of "balancing for low elo". Lee was stomping in low ELO in the hands of people that had no idea what they were doing with him MORE than with other champs. The solution towards low ELO was to SIMPLIFY Lee's kit, for his opponents's sake.

Simplification would require takedowns of a few roots, and not just adding more, that's only making it more stuffed than he already is. And that's not catering either, a straight buff benefits all elo and not just the lowest elo bracket. His ulti buff really was that BS and serves no other purpose than bringing him back into the meta after he'd been out for merely weeks (he wasn't not bad mind you, just average).

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

That's precisely what I'm saying. Making him not a problem for low ELO anymore should have been done through nerfing his skillcap and skillfloor, reducing stuff to single cast, etc., NOT worsening our situation. That's an example of balancing for Worlds, not bronze. Balancing for bronze means nerfing Yi at his full "feast" potential, but making it easier for him to reach it.

If they balanced so that everything is viable at the competitive scene champions like Yi and Warwick would have something like 70% winrate in bronze

So what, it's the place where people play the worst.

Do you want a fair game, or a catering game? I want the former.

I imagine the majority of the player base (bronze and silver) would like the game to not be decided by the first champ to three kills

An unfair multiplayer game is automatically a trash game in the end of the day. I do not want Riot do that. Balance objectively and not subjectively, give champs the strengths they deserve, take away when they're too much. No need to tune champs based on how them bad players are performing, this simply makes no sense what so ever.

WarlockLaw1 votes

Riot as a company (should) wants to make their game as enjoyable as possible to as many as possible. So as a business it makes the most sense to balance towards the majority of players. Of course they also host and run tournaments so then they would also want to make the game balanced for competitive purposes. With that in mind they want to balance towards skilled play. These two conflict with each other so Riot dies their best to do both as best they can, leaning towards casual play most of the year and high elo as they near the world championship tournament.

Evelynn

Narasimha1 votes

She's a pretty special case. Permastealth is, without exception, the strongest ability in the game. It is pretty damn impossible to balance that with the vision system we currently have. So either the system needs a rework, or she does. Eve will never be fine until then.

Kitty von Tuna1 votes

Well you CAN counter her permastealth with a pink ward. And the stealth she has now is far weaker then the one she had before her rework.

Narasimha2 votes

Actually, the pink ward arguement doesn't work with Eve. All it does is let you know she's coming for THAT gank. And then she clears it, makes some money off of it, waits 10 seconds, and then comes back. Pink wards alone won't stop her, only delay her.

Kitty von Tuna1 votes

The thing is, that pre-lvl 9 is kinda much only where she is usefull. After that, you can upgrade your trinket to a Pink, and have one every 90 seconds.

Also, you can't really say that Evelynn is op just because of her stealth. There's many ways to even prevent her for ganking your lane.

They've mentioned at least twice this year that they try to balance around plat level because the pro level is too select a target, whereas plat is an area where they feel all players can reach, or something.

They might make some special balance changes around Worlds time though, but come on, that's not a crime. Those Lee Sin buffs are a little convenient and they sure do reinforce the Corki and Jax jokes...

Actually xPeke2 votes

Chuck Charles10 votes

in my honest opinion he doesn't need the flow at all. he already has a shit ton going for him and the passive shield in early lane phase is oppressive.

WhatAGeinius8 votes

To be honest I really like this idea, it's one of the few suggestions for changes to Yasuo I've seen recently that isn't just directly or indirectly calling for him to be gutted. I personally have always been of the opinion that his shield really isn't that strong to begin with because of how easily it's negated, but I can see why people feel like it's oppressive and this change would also make it so that he has some more meaningful decisions in what order he levels his abilities, instead of having literally no reason to ever take W earlier than level 3 (often level 4) or to not max it last.

doiminat0r36003 votes

I think Yasuo's Shield should be a set amount. Not "blocks 90% of the damage from the next incoming attack".

RISE Shlack1231 votes

That's one adjustment to his kit that would completely balance him out. I hate hitting him with a beefy crit and still see his shield still up. It should be treated like every other shield so that he has to be more careful about when he goes in. You can't simply poke him down enough if he just keeps that shield sustained constantly.

doiminat0r36002 votes

its good for those autos but bad for literally everything else. Jinx rocket? No damage. Ez Ult? No damage. Karthus ult? No damage. Literally the most OP thing in league.

not really.her q at max has 6 sec cd (while windwall at max is 18), and she doesnt need her q to ult

RISE Shlack1231 votes

She needs her Q to ult correctly. If you don't land a Q, you can't get your ult reset, and you probably can't win an all-in because of it. All Yasuo needs is to block that initial Q before Diana all-ins and he should be able to win.
