What does "tapping" mean?

In terms of minion waves? I googled it but couldn't find it anywhere, but I keep hearing it in VODS. And also when should you tap?

tapping is when you hit a minion to low it's hp so that 2 minions don't die at the same time.

no problem. it's a common term in tower defense games and mobas are a form of pvp tower defense.

if you tap a minion at the wrong time it could cause the wave to overpush and give up crucial footing. if you undertap it then it could end up overwhelming your minions or unevenly distributing the damage between waves and cause a severe amount of gold loss.

This is most crucial during the canon wave because you have to make sure and tap the cannon enough that it doesn't outright destroy your wave, but also doesn't die before your cannon does.
