Riot has slowly designed out all emergent properties from the game
The days where you can look at the pool of mechanics and interactions in the game and craft your own gameplay are over. You play the way Riot wants you to play now. Every breach of player creativity that resulted in novel ways to play a champion have been nerfed and/or reworked out of existence. If you're not having success in the game it's now squarely because you're not playing your chosen champion the way it's supposed to be played, or you picked the wrong champion for how you did play.
Riot doesn't create champions anymore, they create members of champion classes. The latest champion to be released, Pyke, isn't a champion, he's assassin #23. The new Akali rework wasn't to update an old champion, it was to sand down the edges of a set of assassin-classified kit attributes so it fit better in the box of assassin #10.
The most important article any competitive player can read to save themselves time and aggravation is the "designer intentions" for a given champion. That is the hole that sooner or later, no matter how much blood and debris it produces, it will pass through.
