Everyone lost their shit when Yasuo could be played as a tank while dealing damage but...

No one cares when a tank with already high base damage on his abilities tries something you know a little "cheesy" like Full AD Garen, Full AP Malphite etc.. Now I will get down voted for this but tanks have high damage which is understandable since they need to deal somewhat of a damage but you It's not fun when Garen gets out of the bush and one-shots you with Q + AA or Malphite with R + Q/E, buff their damage but remove the ap/ad scaling or at least try to keep it minimum

Garen isn’t a tank.

Tanks tend to give up their tankiness when doing that. Even high hp chogath melts against a single bork when full damage, most of these builds are entirely reliant on aftershock. Meanwhile, stuff like tank ekko dealt a lot of damage while being tanky af due to their kits. That's where the problem was, doing it all without creating a weakness.

if malphite builds pure ap he has no tank stats and he loses alot of effectiveness of his passives.

therefore you can blow him up.

The difference is when Malphite builds AP he's squishy as hell.

garen isnt a tank. yasuo and garen are both carries.

the difference is in how the power budget between both champions is distributed.

garen is much slower, shorter range and has less target access as a result. his damage is more situationally bound to the villainy mechanic. yasuo also has his windwall that when used correctly can literally negate multiple champion ultimates. if youd allow yasuo to get as or close to beefy as garen, hed just be a better version of garen in every way.
