Maybe it's time to just restrict to 1 smite per team

I mean it looks like either jg items are pretty meh or if they are good then laners pick them up. I know you could have champ select trolls blocking you out of smite and if that's a problem then wait until you're done with the ranked team builder queue to do this then. I mean it seems obvious that if a laner is taking smite over other summoners then the item they are taking it for has to be pretty broken in lane for them to bother.

If I could honestly think of any case where a laner is picking smite for reasons outside of abusing a jungler item for niche /op reasons then I wouldn't suggest this.

(bring on the downvotes ezreal mid fotm picks and cinder tops xD)

I agree, smite should only be for junglers. But in normals people would troll and still pick a smite mi/dtop and even in ranked people would go AP Ez mid smite and just troll their jungler. Good idea, but won't ever really work out.

Someone actually suggested a cool idea on another thread recently.. Basically, you wouldn't be able to upgrade to your enchantment until you had gained 10 stacks. Stacks would be gained by killing large monsters. While you had Hunter's Machete, you would gain 2 stacks per large monster. If you had a Skirmisher's Sabre, Stalker's Blade, etc, you would gain 1 stack per large monster.

This would prevent laners from abusing smite in lane because:

  1. They would have to kill jungle monsters.

  2. If they stay with Hunter's Machete for the increased stacks, they get useless stats in lane that literally do absolutely nothing to help them, giving them a disadvantage in lane against their opponent.

  3. If they get a Skirmisher's Sabre in lane for the dueling potential, then they get stacks much slower, delaying them from getting the jungle enchantment, even if they have enough gold for it.

  4. Junglers would have enough stacks for the enchantment after just 1 clear of the jungle, meaning there are no negative effects for them.

I just watched a game where a support got smite. I think it's getting a little out of hand.
