From a veteran Ryze OTP: do not buff Ryze
BTW if you're going to down vote, could you please tell me why? I spent a lot of time on this post.
I don't care if his empowered Q did only 60% bonus damage at max rank. I don't care if his W lasted only .5 seconds and empowered root 1 second. Or if his E has a 3.25 second cooldown at all ranks. I don't care if his win rate was 35% all across the board, and only the most alpha gosu's could barely manage 50%.
I don't care. I'll still play him. His kit offers a lot of depth and I like his character design. Ryze. Does. Not. Need. Buffs. If he can be played well to some extent by a low gold, then I'm sure his main playerbase higher up should be doing fine with him.
But you know what he does need? **A FIX ON HIS Q RESET BUG. ** (he could also use an ale)
For those of you who do not know, Ryze's Q resets whenever he casts W or E. However, if W or E are interrupted during their cast, Q will not be reset. Even if the canceled spell is fully casted afterwards, Q will still be on cooldown. This bug happens very often, sometimes in the most urgent situations.
So what's a few seconds of Q on cool down, you might ask. Q is a vital spell of Ryze's kit. It can be used to finish off an enemy that would otherwise live. More importantly, it grants a shield and movement speed under certain conditions, which can save Ryze's life. With Q on cooldown (even though it shouldn't be), Ryze is left standing around like a dolt. It's incredibly terrifying. Imagine being suddenly silenced for 2 seconds with no indicator of you being silenced in middle of a fight. Q deceptively appears to be off cooldown until the Q key is hit which makes it even more misleading.
This issue has been brought up before by multiple people, and it's been happening for a while now (since the QoL "buffs"), but no sign has been given that this bug will be fixed. This is a gameplay post, not report a bug, since it has already been reported, and I have gameplay points to give. I think that this bug is hindering Ryze's win rate, due to how common it is to reproduce. It is also causing a psychological toll on my mind every time Q fails to cast, and as a result I suffer massive trauma whenever I press a spell.
