Difference in Normals and Ranked MMR when solo

Heya, I decided to make a "quick" post a few paragraphs long about the differences in matchmaking that I have noticed recently. If you see parentheses (These things) that means that while I was typing this I went on a mental side tangent.

I am gold 5 right now but I could probably climb to at LEAST gold 3 if I put in the time to solo que. (Yes I was helped getting into gold 5 by winning 4 games duo, and wear the boosted badge of shame when 98% of my ranked games this season have been solo, that aside...) I seem to get matched with and against higher ranked players when I solo normals than when I solo ranked, such as a recent game where I was playing Ryze item 1402 with a diamond 5 Mundo top lane. (I didn't get a leash from him, but I still finished blue with 300 hp left... at 2:47...)

I also noticed that the rank spread of my opponents is much greater. It used to be only gold, silver, and the occasional bronze but in my last game I played against a diamond 5, a plat 3, a gold 5, a silver 5, and a bronze 1 player. That is basically high enough to be called pretty high rank, elo hell (It doesn't exist) and everything in between. (I think that it might have been 2 premades going against each other with me being sucked into that match as the filler.)

Admittedly I haven't played too much ranked recently because my main had his rework reverted making him a less able candidate for the jungle, but the last few ranked games I played everyone was within 5 divisions of each other. I am planning to make Ryze my main jungler with Kindred as a backup jungler with Singed as my main top laner.

I do not see this happen much on my team or the enemy team when I am with a few friends.

The answer is a combination of things.

I've noticed higher ELO players rarely play normals and tend to just spam ranked. The result is that higher ELO players tend to have low normals MMR. They also could be paying norms to play with their lower ELO friends. It's not uncommon to see a plat/diamond player queued with a silver/bronze player which leads to some funky matchmaking as a result

More or less normal games tend to be clown fiestas where true MMR can be skewed and players with massive MMR differences queue together which gives some weird results

normal mmr is pretty fucked since so many players play mostly ranked. your normal mmr could be high or these really high ranking people could have shit normal mmr because they don't play normals very frequently.

Elo hell exists.

I consider Ranked in General to be Elo Hell. Hue. (Im a normals main)

Ryze and singed are pretty cool.. You gotta be a really good Kindred to play her successfully. So props for that.

One time I had 25 hunts finished in one game. I may or may not have preformed the legendary 1v4 quad after support dies play.
