Riot why did you make Azir able to poke you down merciless? and also whats with his insane range?

I understand basic attack pokes but with Azir, he makes 2 - 3 soldiers attack you all at once and your HP just get cut in chunks and not only that, the reduce movement speed makes it even more complicated to escape or move away from. ( We're talking about early game here and mid game, late game he is suddenly OP )

I thought being under the turret is your safe guard during lane phase but he manages to abuse his range to the point where his soldiers are literally right next to you, why is this the case?

At this point I can understand why in Diamond they ban Azir and Gnar.

Yeah, Azir is the best lane bully released by Riot.

Which doesn't make sense considering that they just reworked Cass to be "less of a lane bully"

Isn't that a known trait among siege mages? Xerath, Vel'Koz and Ziggs share this trait.

Hell, no one knows that Vel can half health someone with a Q-W if he knows what to build.

And hell, Vel makes it look like he missed his Q entirely only for a near undodgeable projectile to smack you in the face to be comboed into either his Void Rift for harass or Tectonic Disruption to murder you with his ult.

Xerath can dance in the middle of mid while you farm from under turret.

Siege mages tend to do these things. It's trait they share. Request a gank early, tell your jungler that Azir's getting ballsy, bring the emperor to his knees.

He's not op or ban worthy since nerfs a while back. Sure he'll poke you, but once you get inside that first poke and jump on him, he doesn't do much. Try playing Zed into him if you want an easy lane.

Alright lets break it down

Laning phase he's not going to have 2-3 soldiers out. Partly because he can't, and partly because its a very stupid move.
If he's poking you so much, DO something about it. Stop playing passively. Does he send his soldiers to poke? Then move into him and all in him. One soldiers does negligible damage.
You have a jungler (hopefully). Use him or her. If you're under your turret, then Azir is pushing. Request a gank, INSIST on one. Azir's 'escape' can be blocked by standing in front of him.
Soldiers don't last long under tower. Hell, they EXPLICITLY don't last long under tower. It lasts what, 3 seconds? Just move away from it.
If he's constantly poking you with Q, he'll go oom very very quickly. Its not a cheap spell.

You know, as much as you people act like you know how to lane against Azir or know how to " counter " him makes me want to shake my head in disappointment on how this community can be. And I'm not refering everyone who commented on this thread because some people here understand how much of a stupid champ Azir is, like Gnar.

I understand the whole " lane bully thing" but I'm not talking about how he was made like that. I'm talking about how stupid it is that Azir's soldiers can still attack you UNDER THE TURRET and the poking damage he does is mad insane, it's not a poke damage compared to Syndras or Annie this dude HURTS. And the reason why I'm disappointed with some people here is because as much as you guys talk big it won't ever change the fact how Azir is banned a lot in rank. I've seen it countless times from different popular streamers. They ban this champ for a REASON just how they ban Gnar a lot.

Azir is supposed to be "The Lane Bully". His range and poke damage are meant to force enemies to buy sustain items. In tiers at gold and above, it is often easy to survive an Azir, but he often prevents players from easily engaging on him or getting kills, which is what makes him very powerful in the current meta filled with champions who need kills in order to scale into the late game as intended.

Actually, while he is a lane bully, it is quite easy to get away from his harass. I've been trying to learn Azir and what I've noticed is -

He has a shit early game and any early all-in will probably get him low, waste a summ or get him killed.

Maintaining one soldier on the field is taxing as it is. Spamming Q is very mana consuming till you get a mana sustain item. If he has two soldiers up at all times, he is a terrible Azir unless he knows your jungler isn't around or he knows you can't all-in him.

His escape not only takes time, it can be blocked easily just like Vi's Q. He can only Q once with his soldier up early game so try to trick him into throwing it somewhere useless then harass him/kill him/take CS.

Here's the solution:

Once Azir uses W-Q to tickle your bumhole WALK TOWARDS HIM (pre-level 6 is best for this). He now is completely defenseless for about 6-8 seconds. I you can manage to get him to use another W or E, great, he now wasted more resources and will soon be on his way to no longer spam-poking you. His poke and bullying ability isn't even as strong as other champs like Syndra or Leblanc

Azir is pretty squishy even for a mid-laner so even just getting a little bit of harass back can go a long way. Just man up and stop instinctively running away. The longer you run away the longer he has to get his CDs back up untouched.

If that strategy doesn't work on the champ you are playing Akali Yasuo (i can't think of anybody else) then stop playing champs with limited range against Azir.

Other tips

Don't for the love of god stand near his soldiers
His e has a huge cd, abuse that
DON'T STAND NEAR HIS SOLDIERS
Azir takes a lot of mana when he tries to poke, since he has to w then q, so if you dodge his soldiers then he has to q again, wasting more mana
Azir is squish, it doesn't take much to get him low, a few q's from xerath really hurts him.
Azir has an INCREDIBLY pathetic early game, until he gets his first morello's. Kill him then
