Kog' Maw passive

Why the he'll does Kog' Maw, an ADC have a passive that rewards dying. It seems really stupid that you are playing a role designed to stay alive and carry and your passive benefits you dying. I mean it might help you in like an early both lane fight but why couldn't it be something that has something to do with auto attacks. Seems contradictory to reward dying when you are playing a champ designed to kite and do damage from far away

Honestly I was stunned that they didn't change it when he was reworked, because I remember a younger Riot saying they disliked his passive.

Just another lazy rework pushed out by people that don't even play the champ. Now Kog is one of those "so good when strong he can't be strong" champs relegated to obscurity again.

One part of this answer lies in the time of Kogs creation. He was a very early champ (maybe even a launch champ, I can't remember) and the game was very different back then. There wasn't as much mobility as there is today, so the ability to run after the enemy and revenge kill them was great (and usually worked)

Over time, this has become one of his iconic abilities. When you think about kog, you think of the void puppy that pukes on everything and explodes when he dies. It's a fun part of his kit, it makes him different, but it is a holdout from an earlier time.

To be honest, its probably got something to do with his lore*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]. After reading it on my own time (and multiple times at that [zombie-brand-facepalm] ) I thought hard about his awakening and it made me realize, Kog'Maw is a scout or a spy for the Void tasked with finding out how Malzahar came to be. Basically, anytime Kog'Maw is interested in something he eats it, and whenever Kog'Maw finds something new he eats it (Q,W, R, and auto attacks), but he doesn't get bigger like Cho'Gath Chogath. This is because he doesn't actually absorb all of the material rather he spits acids to deconstruct and analyze the material at an atomic level (Q and Wed auto attacks). Then if he needs to eat or kill a live target, he can slow them with adhesive saliva (E). Finally, if someone does kill Kog'Maw he just blows up and destroys all data that he collected and possibly any witnesses, this is what all connects it. To summarize everything Kog'Maw is researching Runeterra by analyzing everything on the planet by deconstructing matter and observing life on Runeterra, his other task is to find Malzahar Malzahar to learn how this non-Void being harmonized with the Void (Kog'Maw may likely kill Malzahar in the analyzing process[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]* ). This all seems confusing, but if you read Kog'Maw's lore and if you think of Kog'maw's abilities as a loyal spy or a scout, you will understand Kog'Maw's passive. This is why I like to Jungle Kog'Maw, because that is where he belongs in the lore, learning about the wildlife and investigating the locals. See you on the Rift. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
