Ghostblade + IE is an OP combination on most AD champions.

Seriously, build those two items on any AD scaling champion that uses auto attacks - Riven, Vi, Zed, Talon, etc. Those 2 items are all you need to blow people the fuck up. Throw in a Last Whisper once late game hits.

Ghostblade on Vi is very iffy

and if you build IE on Vi please go seek professional psychiatric help.

Ghostblade is just really strong. Brutalizer is really strong on its own, and the Ghostblade upgrade is small steps, has solid stats and an amazing active. I would call it under rated, but it is actually quite popular right now.

IE is just good on auto attacks in general, in a similar way to Deathcap being really good on AP scaling champions.

So yeah, this is nothing revolutionary. Pretty standard. Though Vi is strange, if you wanted a V champion that builds IE and Ghostblade, you were looking for Vayne.

Disadvantage:

Most AD champions you mention are melee - meaning, they can't really get many autos in and can't really afford to build too much offensive stuff, either

Vi? What are you doing with your life :_:

Just like sorcerers boots are op on any mage.

Just like how Zhonya is the single most broken thing in this entire game. IMO that shit is more OP than Master Yi tanking summoner platform for 38 seconds. Also, IE is expensive, it gives no defensive stats, and it's about to be nerfed, and you can have bad luck and just not crit whenever you attack champions, and you have no sustain with those two items, and IE's build path is pretty awkward, with dat expensive ass BF sword and the item 1018 that dont really do shit.

Ghostblade is way better on ranged champions lol are you serious

same stats but you can abuse the active to kite and chase instead of just chase

Yeah, you realized.

That was my Talon build in S2

Dude, Vi with Ghostblade + IE is op as fuck. Think about it, all her damage is from autos other than her Q and R.

Sightless661 votes

Her Q and R represent a ton of her damage, and while she does get damage from autoing, a lot of it is tied up in her W, which crit does absolutely nothing for. Her E damage is also not boosted by crit. She deals much more damage with ability damage than she does by autoing. That makes crit a disadvantageous stat on her. Armor penetration and semi-tanky builds are much, much stronger.

Also, IE on Zed? And give up that lovely BoRK burst? No, let's not.

BotRK active represents 200-300 raw damage and 1 crit represents up to 350-450 bonus raw damage on an AA. This is assuming late game ofc.

If anything, the good part about having BotRK is that you get 40% attack speed and a slow.

But no one build straight into crit because it's too slow to start the damage. Most likely you stick with a normal build and slowly change into crit items during mid or late game.

Building an IE late game on an assassin is not what this guy wrote. He said "Those 2 items are all you need". He wrote about "Ghostblade + IE" as a combination of those two items, by building them first. Yeah, I'd eventually want an IE on Zed because it's the most slot-efficient damage item, but I'm not building it and ghostblade together as my first items on Zed under any situation. I'm not objecting to IE, I'm objecting to IE and ghostblade first. Maybe Talon could do it. Maybe. Zed shouldn't.

Why not both IE and BotRK on Zed? My normal Zed build is BotRK - Ghostblade - Last Whisper - IE, with whatever boots or defensive items are called for in the other 2 slots. If you can get a crit or two into your ult combo, you can pop pretty much anybody.

Sightless661 votes

Eventually, sure. I'd eventually want it in a full build on most assassins just because it's the most slot-efficient item you can get. An IE as a fifth or sixth item isn't what "Ghostblade + IE" implies though. That implies buying those items one-after-the-other, and probably as first and second items.

Vi's E damage doesn't get boosted by crit, but the basic attack damage can crit.

So what? It represents a small portion of her damage. She gets much more damage from abilities than from autoattacks. Sustained autoattacking is not her strong suit. Armor penetration and non-crit AD is more effective for that reason.

You should be able to get at least 3-4 autos in a full Vi combo (Q - AA - E - R - AA - E, being the ideal combo). If you get a crit or two in there, that HARDLY represents a "small" portion of her damage.

You've itemized for increasing autoattack damage, so it will represent a slightly larger percentage of her damage. However, you haven't itemized to support the major source of your damage, which is abilities, not autoattacks. You are doing more damage with autoattacks, but you are doing less damage than you could be if your abilities were stronger.

Let me explain this. Crit enhances autoattack damage. It purely boosts damage from autoattacking, and nothing else. Armor penetration boosts all physical damage, but doesn't boost autoattacks as much as crit does, making it more suited to abilities. Champions who get higher percentages of their damage from autoattacking (AD carries, Trynd, etc) buy crit because it enhances their primary source of damage. They buy more autoattack scaling (persistent attack speed), which also makes other autoattack scaling mechanics stronger. However, bruisers like Vi do a higher percentage of their damage with abilities. This makes armor penetration, CDR, and flat AD more desirable stats, because they boost her primary damage source while crit doesn't.

I can always do more damage for my money on Vi buying armor penetration and flat AD than buying crit, and I can do it while getting earlier power spikes from brutalizers, getting more CDR (which is good, because every point of CDR makes every other point of CDR stronger). It's better unless you are doing a hell of a lot more damage just from autoattacks than Vi does. This holds true for almost any bruiser. Armor penetration is almost always a better stat for them than crit.

IE is not a good item for her unless you in a 55+ minute game and you're trying to get as slot-efficient a build as you can. It's less damage for the money than you can get with other options. It should absolutely never be bought second on her. I am not budging from that position.

See, that's not true. Ghostblade + IE gives a lot of raw AD and arm pen, and DOES greatly enhance her ability damage.

Sightless661 votes

Not as much as similar gold spent on other items would. IE is expensive, and it has a lot of its gold value into enhancing the smallest portion of a bruiser's damage. I can take that same gold and get similar or even more AD with CDR, strong actives, armor penetration, or whatever else. Ghostblade is defensible. IE is not.

Ghostblade is amazing. Really strong build path, very powerful active, good stats. Not really an ideal fit on most ADCs, but we still buy it often because it's just so brute force strong.

I've been seeing QT build Ghostblade + IE + Phantom Dancer on a lot of ADCs lately. The build has a shit load of crit chance, but eventually I would want to trade the ghostblade for a Last Whisper unless the enemy team (for some reason) built zero armor items.

I believe some of the crit chance from item 3031 get moved to item 3046.
