I went top lane and instantly regret it

i just played top lane again after a while and i reminded myself why i dont go there anymore ...

Conqueror + ignite

i enjoy mainly tank champion ornn nasus etc...i decided to play the stacking monster nasus and i was lucky enough to go vs a tryn ... By seeing the tryn with conqueror and ignite i was defeated just by him having them 2 things ...

If i even thought about going up to a single minion to last hit it i would be faced with a slow followed by his spin and dashes and finally getting ignitied and autoed to death or losing a massive amount of HP so naturally i let him push wave but just being forced under turret and unable to do anything ....

Can we nerf this true damage taken into top lane .... conqueror and ignite is abundent .... to see tanks gone because of these 2 things giving a huge advantage ...

Nasus is best with Conqueror too and you're not supposed to have a leg up on Tryndamere early. You probably managed the wave poorly but later on Nasus can have little trouble with Tryndamere on the correct build, even factoring Conqueror.

NOOOO dont run conq nasus people plz. GRASP IS by far his best choise

If u lose with Nasus to Trynda, I'm sry to say ur game play has problems. Nasus is one of the few champions that screw up champions like Trynda and Jax due to the attack speed debuff on W and he can force Trynda to ult early and Face-Tank him untill his ult is finished and kill him.

Statistically it's a winning matchup for nasus as well

Way to ignore his point. The point is nasus has a decent hp pool and builds realativly tanky. And because ignite and conquerer exist, effectively shutting down any and all tank stats the lane is auto lost.

Tanks have no presence is average play now because their one of their two advantages is completely ignore.

The way it sounds is, He fed tryn early and couldn't get tankier than tryns damage.

The fault lies with the Player not the Champion. Gotta play safe and get whatever stacks you can, Once you got the stacks then you can go be a beast.

You know what conquerer and ignite do right??

Unreducable damage. He’s saying that is the problem.

It wouldn’t matter is the tryn was 1/19. The moment tryn procs conquerer and has even a Bork the fight is lost.

Sounds like excuses, Doesn't it?

Hes not always going to have conqueror up. Eventually you'll have lots of stacks as nasus and your sustain will become greater than tryn's damage. Hes got a jungler that could gank. i assume a teleport, he could straight up teleport bot and get the enemy bot behind.

There are plenty of things you can do to avoid someone who has Conquerer and Ignite until you are in a position to fight them, Even if that means only fighting them with your team.

Conquerer is almost never down in lane. Because it stacks in combat with minions. Soooooooo irrelevant point.

And the counterplay to something should not be dependent on 3+ people. There should be outplay potential to everything. True damage does not have any.

you're right its almost always up..

The most important thing is not taking bad trades early on. i see so many people lose lane RIGHT THERE. They fall behind extremely early and then claim whatever they lost to be broken or op and has no counterplay.

Like damn your counterplay was not giving them a lead. [sg-ahri-1]

Except they had a lead as soon as you picked a tank champion.

The amount of damage champions get ignite and conquerer alone does more than damage than most champions actual kit.

WukongMain1 votes

That's debatable, Specially in the Nasus vs Tryn matchup where Tryn hits huge spikes in the first few levels with his fury bar and having ignite, Where as Nasus isn't quite strong early on and needs some time to get stronger.

In the case of other tanks, i think the same still applies... A lot of damage based (ignite/conq) champions tend to have vary early power spikes that they use to all in champions and get the ball rolling. Where as tanks tend to need a little bit of time to build up their power.

Just cause we're not in the glory days of tanks when they were able to be unkillable all the time while also out damaging damage champions doesn't mean that the thing that directly opposes them is overpowered. It just means that they need a brain now and play to their strengths. They're a tank. Be a tank, Do what you can not to die in lane and then group up and peel for your teammates.

Except their early power isn’t survivable for most tanks. Due to turrets being so weak. At level 3 most champions are going to dive.

And their are handed a lead. Because as tryn for an example again. He doesn’t fall off. He continues to be stronger and stronger. So you don’t get an opportunity to survive them. Sure you can not die to them sometimes. But you give up so much they are automatically ahead.

except you're wrong. the moment when tryn procs conqueror never happens because you press W as nasus, effectively reducing him to 0.69 AS, or 0.81 if he built AS. you also slow him by 90% and you can literally kite him and even kill him. if you are stupid enough to not max W on nasus vs this or any other melee matchup you deserve to lose. your W is literally biggest counter to conqueror, not including cc. if you build AS reduction and use your W, you have effectively neutralized trynda's damage, the moment you hit 6 you literally beat trynd in a straight 1v1.

Yeh like when you play vs a darius and you play safe a max as you can trying to stack under turret , of corse he will have perma conqueror readdy to procc , then you try to get a litle CS , sudently E , W , with an auto and Q in 2 seconds and you loose 70 % of your hp. XD

Trust me playing safe dont pay anymore as nasus vs any conqueror user champ with no exception ( except vs bad players of corse ).

Vs riven ? a good riven will freese and kill you every time you try to farm . Vs fiora ? no comment Vs tryndamer ? : playing safe or not feding him early or not a good tryndamer will kill a nasus multiple times in lane or he will farm his triple. ( on a meta where game dont tay mroe then 30 min ) vs jax : this champ bully nasus at any stat of the game early late mid any thing vs kled ? or you stay under turret and farm 50 % of waves ( if the kled is low elo ) , or you cry and regreat the day you picked nasus cause that kled is freesing lane until he finished tiamat while you you just have 550 gold XD. Vs irelia ? : get hit by an E whil she have conq on and congrats your flash is consumed , now stay under turret and spam pings maybe your jungler will come The funny part of the story is that i used to auto win vs all of those champs at season 7 x) ; and i let you guess what changed between season 7 and season 8 . ( yeh they introduced conqueror to those champs ). and when i talk ; its based on my experience , i'm one of the most played nasus in season 7 and season 8. with more then 1K games for more 54 % winrat i literally learrned the game playing nasus . http://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=ISpiko

Riot : oh right lets buff nasus Q x).

Nasus actually is the most frustrating champ to play in top lane , all the match ps he used to win once lvl 6 ( back in S7 etc ) now became a counter picks for him thanks to conqeuror -_- .

And other match ups like top mages or illoi etc are natural counters to him so you cant complain about them.

Now the question is : give a single matche up that nasus win in season 9 XD ( be honnest with your self , dont bring me a : at low elo nasus is descent ) and dont go to OP.GG and tell me well they say nasus counter shyvana xD - yeh they cant even find a real champ that nasus counter lane - anymore

You can't pick Nasus first and expect to do well. You just can't. He has so many damn counters. Nasus isn't good in this meta anyway regardless of the champion he's playing against. The tank stats and HP he has simply aren't enough for him to survive long enough to scale anymore.

God forbid the champ who's meant to have a weak early game have this weakness exploited with a bad matchup. He's meant to be able to chase you away from your farm (your win condition in lane), and if you can't find a way around it, you're not going to win. That's how playing a very binary champ like Nasus works. Nothing to do with him being a tanky champ. Durable top laners who can soak up damage like Urgot Garen and Sion definitely have a strong presence.

conqueror was mainly here to beat tanky champions... or am I wrong?

Raiyza1 votes

That is the point, but its still brutal at all stages of the game.

cPXt3JHpf43 votes

...tanks are not supposed to be fighting champions who are meant for 1v1 or fighting period. You would look pretty stupid walking up to a bruiser and trying to fighting them.

Raiyza1 votes

That wasn't my point.

You're absolutely right, but it's really bad at all stages of the game because once a champion enters Conqueror's buff, they blow up squishies. It's not meant so that fighters can 1v1 tanks, but rather so that tanks are not unkillable in teamfights.

Jax Is a huge offender, along with MonkeyKing Darius Draven Pantheon etc. etc. 20% true damage is too strong, not to mention it also increases the champions AD as well.

ROYALR3IGN2 votes

If i'm not mistaken, Nasus W lowers the effective damage of Trynda's Conqueror. The attack speed reduction means he can't proc it as many times, but even knowing that, if you see someone take ignite and you have teleport you're not going to win most all ins unless he absolutely messes it up.

Glaricion1 votes

I might be wrong, but hasn't Nasus' ability to stack become a trap of sorts w/ all the mobility and damage in the game?

I would think that the build to go would be 'tanky' AP w/ ZZ'rot.

sure tanks being dead sucks but know this if you take conqueror away the the fighter class off champions will and we'll end up with anotherseason of tank top lane only unless you want to play jayce. Conqueror was created so fighters could atleast have a chance to kill tanks that just built bramble vest and ninja tabi and instantly won lane

Nasus is objectively weak. You decrease the chances of winning just be picking him.

By seeing the tryn with conqueror and ignite i was defeated just by him having them 2 things ...

I've played a lot of trynd games and I can assure you it's possible for nasus to fight quite decently or even win, depending on the skill of both players.

So, no, it was not about conqueror and ignite. It was about you picking a shitty hero and not being able to play correctly.

When you go top Nasus the enemy jg always camps you even though you're getting pushed into your own tower while your jg completely ignores you. Not just Nasus, but almost all top laners. Why do junglers hate top lane so much?

JechtLionheart1 votes

i rekt'd a few nasus with my tryndamere recently you might be one of them haha, but let's be honest if you lose to tryndamere conqueror or not he was just a lot better than you. all you have to do is play it safe until level 6 , after that beating a decent nasus is impossible as tryndamere. Anyway i dont have empathy for nasus player, free lifesteal as passive combined with infinite scaling Q make him a pure cancer for top lane.

CascadingDream1 votes

As someone who plays a lot of top lane (mostly Ornn cause he's insane)(White Plasma for reference) as well as being in the same general mmr as OP, I can say that that matchup is definetly winnable and at the very least can be made even. It just takes a bit of brain and maybe some mechanics/champion knowledge. Not to say that you don't have those, or to say that I haven't probably lost that matchup before (tank vs conq-ignite) but I've also most certainly won it as well.

Personal experience may differ, but that doesn't mean that the possibility isn't there. Example: I used to LOATHE playing vs. Tryndamere because it never seemed winnable. Now it is.

All that to say...get good i guess? Not in the nagging or i guess elitist way, but if you have a friend that can play trynd, play the matchup in a custom. Def helps figure things out without the costs of shame and maybe elo depending on queue

iDarkWind1 votes

If you manage well the minion wave I can't see you losing that bad as you say. Especially if you manage to get the wave to freeze closer to your turrent. Plus, Nasus has a decent sustain through his passive and a massive slow on his W to counter autoattackers such as Tryndamere.

By the way, Conqueror was created in first place because tanks wouldn't give two fvcks about his lane opponent, and with litlle game knowledge and litlle effort they would stall enough the lane until in the teamfights they would become very useful thanks to their natural kits full of CC and tankiness they provide. The main problem on this community, far I can see, is that they really believe a tank should be able to make mistakes and left unpunished like it was back in the days, because they were a lot harder to kill.

LAFFEN1 votes

as a nasus main, i win against most of my matchups, if enemy have ignite/conq or is a darius/teemo i just farm under turret the first 10min. eventually with like 200stacks ur able to do some dmg. once u reach like 350-400stacks noone can really 1v1 u (except its a fed vayne/yi) but overall i hate the ignite meta toplane, and i disrespect people who use it, lol

WeeWeeBojangles1 votes

I used to play top a lot but stick to jungle or bot lane more. The past few patches They have considerably buffed ignite and nerfed teleport so that it is unusable now. In almost all my match ups top my opponent always takes ignite. It is extra true damage, it applies grievous wounds, giving a huge combat advantage early on, it has a much lower cool down than teleport so it can be used more often, and it works better on almost all champions. TP has a much higher cool down, no combat advantage, and now that it cant be cancelled any more it's just not even worth taking. Why would i want to teleport to a fight and not be able to cancel it if the fight goes poorly? That's just another free kill for my opponent. In my opinion the biggest advantage to having TP was being able to dissuade your opponents from continuing a fight that was highly favorable for them by teleporting behind them and the cancelling last second.

Nasus is actually one of Tryndamere's hardest counters maybe even his worst melee matchup. I think you lost due to skill difference (wave management, trading, etc)
